Job DescriptionThe
CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are in the middle of a large growth trajectory. This means new, exciting complex projects that you will have the ability to shape and be a part of. We are currently looking for a design technician for our Resources sector. You will be a key resource in terms of knowledge regarding piping standards and specifications in the framework of various mining projects including piping and material handling systems. You will also be required to work on projects in other disciplines. Flexibility is a significant asset in the industrial design team.
Primary Responsibilities- This role will be responsible for the coordination of all AutoCAD based projects for the industrial design team in Western Canada.
- Perform the design and modelling of piping and mechanical equipment based on standards and specifications, in a 3D digital environment (point cloud).
- Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
- Prepare piping system drawings.
- Generate isometric drawings using design software.
- Verify 3D models and ensure quality.
- Ensure multidisciplinary coordination with the industrial team and other professionals assigned to the project.
- Control quality of drawings produced by junior design draftspersons.
- Participate in technical audits, surveys and on-site work supervision (occasionally).
Qualifications- Diploma or certificate in drawing or engineering technology.
- Five years of piping design experience in the mining industry.
- Ability to design 3D piping and mechanical equipment systems, while focusing on safety, constructability, serviceability, and industry best practices.
- Experience in plant implementation and optimization (brownfield/greenfield).
- Advanced practical knowledge of Plant 3D and Revit software.
- Knowledge of Navisworks and Inventor software.
- Drivers licence and access to a vehicle.
