Mechanic Heavy Equipment

As one of our mechanics, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other heavy equipment across our job sites and facilities. This position primarily involves handling service calls for forklifts—particularly Nessel and SkyTrak models—with additional work performed at our Rockland garage.

Primary responsibilities:

1. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on forklifts (e.g., Nessel, SkyTrak) and other heavy equipment.
2. Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
3. Respond to service calls at job sites, ensuring prompt, efficient, and safe repairs.
4. Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify issues and recommend solutions.
5. Maintain detailed records of all repairs, parts used, and services performed.
6. Collaborate with the operations team to address equipment concerns and minimize disruptions.
7. Support garage-based servicing of forklifts and other large vehicles when not attending job sites.
8. Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
9. Communicate repair needs and equipment status clearly to supervisors and team members.

Requirements:

1. Minimum 3+ years of experience as a mechanic, preferably with forklifts or heavy equipment.
2. Solid understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
3. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites.
4. Forklift certification is considered an asset but not required.
5. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
6. Strong problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
7. Physically fit and capable of handling demanding workloads, including heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing.
