Truck And Coach Technician Job PurposeThe Coach Technician will be required to maintain and service the various types of vehicles that operate in Coach Canada. This position is responsible for ensuring that all work adheres to Ministry of Transportation legislated requirements. The Coach Technician must have a mechanical license 310T as well as a valid Ontario Driver’s License (BZ) and have experience in Detroit and Cummins diesel engine repair, drivetrains, brake systems, brake retarders, suspension/steering, electrical/electronic systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, wheelchair lifts and ramps. For our apprenticeship applicants, you must be in your 2nd or 3rd year program with the College of Trades.
Truck And Coach Technician Roles And Responsibilities- Thorough knowledge of all applicable motor vehicle legislation, safety regulations, WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Ability to read and interpret various technical manuals.
- Perform and diagnose vehicle malfunctions and identify deficiencies in vehicle components, performance or quality of repair, service or preventative maintenance work performance.
- Respond to emergency calls.
- Apply safety rules and best practices.
Truck And Coach Technician Position Requirements- Valid driver’s license with Z endorsement (A, B, C, D Preferred), Valid 310T Mechanical License, and Valid Passport.
- For apprenticeship applicants - must be registered with the College of Trades, and in your 2nd or 3rd year.
- Experience in the mechanical repair and maintenance of all company related equipment.
- Knowledge of safety rules and best practices related to the use of tools, vehicles and equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills and ability to read and interpret various technical manuals.
- Reliable and capable of working in a team environment and independently.
- Drug and Alcohol pre-employment and random testing.
- Must be able to work well under pressure, able to multi-task, possess organizational skills to set priorities and meet required deadlines.
- Capable of working with a minimal amount of supervision and work flexible hours.
- Computer proficiency in Lotus Notes, internet and AS400.
- Must be knowledgeable of the operation and servicing of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment installed in the vehicles and working knowledge of transit equipment including electronic fareboxes, destination signs, communication equipment and GPS technology.
Truck And Coach Technician Physical Requirements- Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling.
- Reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift articles up to 50 lbs.
