Mechanic

The Position:

The mechanic works under the direction of the superintendent and will be responsible for organizing and performing all preventative maintenance, repairing all golf course equipment as needed, and daily upkeep and adjustments to mower blades and reels.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems of all course equipment, including utility vehicles, golf carts, lawnmowers, trimmers, and other small engine machines.
• Daily inspection, adjustment, and sharpening of cutting reels and rotary mowers.
• Daily maintenance checks on fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment.
• Keep detailed maintenance and repair records.
• Perform scheduled servicing of all equipment.
• Occasionally assist the grounds crew with course maintenance.
• Help train staff on proper equipment use and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain a safe workplace and keep equipment in safe operating conditions.
• Maintain the shop workspace in an organized and clean fashion.

Requirements:

• Experience in repairing golf course equipment or relevant mechanical experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Working knowledge of small gas and diesel engine repair.
• Experience with grinding and setup of both reel and rotary mowers is an asset.
• Welding and fabricating skills are an asset.
• Maintain a positive approach with coworkers and be team-oriented.

Remuneration:

• $27 to $29 per hour.
• Accommodations include golfing privileges and a reserved spot in the RV park (low cost).

40 Hours / Week

Probationary Period:

This position has a three (3) month probationary period. Every effort will be made by the employer to ensure the success of the candidate in their new position.
