Position Summary
Responsible for the general maintenance and quality of McAsphalt’s production/operating machinery, motors and equipment by ensuring preventative maintenance is provided and troubleshooting problems that occur.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Follows all McAsphalt Health and Safety policies and Procedures.
2. Maintain, repair & troubleshoot production related machinery and plant equipment.
3. Responds to major emergencies during and after hours as needed.
4. Supports Engineering and Operations in new construction and upgrade activities.
5. Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
6. Coordinates with Maintenance Coordinator for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
7. Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and building regulations.
8. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on all production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
9. Troubleshoots problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
10. Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
11. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with McAsphalt policies and procedures.
12. Provides scheduled and emergency inspection, testing, lubrication on machinery and mechanical equipment.
13. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
14. Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
15. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and establishing personal networks.
16. Oversees the professional development of apprentice Industrial Mechanics.

Required Qualifications

1. Valid Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate or a recognized inter-provincial equivalent.
2. Minimum 2 years experience in an industrial environment.
3. Ability to recognize risks to support safety in the workplace.
4. Organizational and time management abilities.
5. Experience with CMMS software a plus.
6. Class 5 Drivers License.
