2025 Math and Literacy Tutors - Grade 7 & 8

$22.00 per hour (+ vacation pay in lieu) / up to 20 hrs a week. Mandatory Training during the week of February 3 - 7th. Exact dates and times of training TBD.

Up to 20 hrs a week from February 10th - April 30, 2025. Possibility of extension: UP to 35 hours a week from May - June 20th.

Position Overview
Spring Math Tutors will provide gap closing support to students in grade 7 and 8 for Term 2 (February - April, with possibility of extension for May & June). Within a structured school day, Tutors will provide direct instruction to small groups focusing on numeracy, operations, and proportional reasoning.

Duties of the Tutor include:

  1. Attend training session(s)
  2. Plan and lead small group math instruction
  3. Monitor student progress and share with classroom teachers

Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for applicants who:

  1. Are learners who seek and apply feedback to improve their practice
  2. Show initiative
  3. Are currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and are considering an education-related career
  4. Are interested in, or have experience working with students in small groups in math and/or literacy
  5. Can provide their own transportation to the assigned school (mileage not covered by LDSB)
  6. Have a current CPIC (or can obtain a CPIC prior to employment)

Interviews
Candidates will participate in virtual interviews. Interviews will be held on or about the week of January 20th - January 24th.
