Job description

Job Description: Omniply is looking for a Materials Scientist to support development of Omniply's new materials for delamination of thin films used for fabricating the next generation of flexible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. We are looking for a Materials Scientist/Chemist/Engineer with a background in materials science/chemistry/engineering/physics, and experience in thin film coatings of inorganic materials and thin film device fabrication.

Desired Skills:

Strong understanding of interfacial chemistry and adhesion forces for thin film semiconductor applications; first-hand experience in designing new material to control surface properties for thin film coatings. Industry experience in fabrication of thin film coatings and/or devices, with a thorough understanding of the effect of process conditions on the deposition of inorganic thin film multilayer structures.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate the interfacial adhesion properties between multilayer inorganic thin films
  • Design and lead development of inorganic materials to modify or control adhesion between multilayer thin films
  • Develop process recipes for fabrication of materials & devise characterization parameters for the new materials
  • Conduct research to develop new chemical formulations and processes and devise new technical applications of industrial chemicals and compounds
  • Conduct laboratory experiment in the field of chemistry, thin film coatings, surface science, and polymer science
  • Effectively apply the latest thin film design techniques and materials
  • Perform failure analysis to improve development methods
  • Deliver on project communication and actively pursue contingency plans
  • Effectively communicate the results to the Omniply technical staff
  • Document the results in comprehensive technical reports
  • Create and secure intellectual property for Omniply

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering, physics or related field or a Bachelor’s/MS degree with relevant experience is required
  • 2+ years of industry experience in thin films with experience in developing new materials
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in engineering surface properties in multilayer films
  • Experience in calculation and modeling of stress and strain in multilayer films
  • Understanding of OLED process development is a plus
  • Knowledge of microelectronics fabrication processes and physical vapor deposition is a plus
  • Familiarity with thin film metrology tools
  • Ability to write technical documents
  • Self-motivated and creative/innovative
  • Data-driven with strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Good analytical/modeling skills, ability to work under pressure
