Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks on a diversified range of engineering fields; mainly on metallics and chemical processes.
  • Lead research & development projects on environmentally compliant Materials & Processes; knowledge of environmental regulations such as REACH is an asset.
  • Develop material qualification test plans, work with internal and external laboratories, analyze results and write test reports.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings and manufacturing technique sheets.
  • Collaborate with Production, Methods, Quality & Logistics to resolve day to day production issues that are related to materials and processes.
  • Support process improvement and cost reduction projects per schedule and highlight risks/issues in a timely manner.

How to thrive in this role?

  • You have a degree in Materials, Chemical or Mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • You have 8 to 15 years of experience in an aerospace/military production environment.
  • You are knowledgeable about typical military and/or aerospace industry standards such as MIL specs, Federal regulations, ASTM, ISO and SAE specifications.
  • You have an extended knowledge of the different metallic materials that are used in the aerospace industry, mainly aluminum, but also steel and titanium as well as the different corrosion mechanisms and the available means to prevent them.
  • You are aware of the main manufacturing processes, such as machining, forming, heat treatment, shot peening as well as the different chemical surface treatment of aluminum (chemical conversion coating and anodizing).
  • You are knowledgeable in engineering design principles and reviewing drawings.
  • You are adept at solving engineering problems quickly and independently.
  • You have a pro-active mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and a high sense of commitment.
  • You have excellent communication skills in both English and French.
  • You must be able to work in a team environment and interact daily with Technical Experts, Professionals and Technicians.
