Job description

The Opportunity:

This position coordinates all plant and packaging supplies to ensure that they are available to meet production needs, while continuing to stay within budget.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Orders and coordinates shipment of available supplies from vendor to different locations
  • Reconcile 3rd party warehouse inventory to internal inventory
  • Enter, Analyze and investigate daily material cycle counts for direct materials (works closely with Finance)
  • Vendor quality notifications- create, send and follow up with vendors
  • Investigate and resolve receiving issues
  • Purchase indirect materials for the facility
  • Communicate with supplier’s Customer Service Representatives regarding purchase orders and invoices
  • Meet daily with Plant Supervisors and Formulation group on next day’s RAW and Ready-To-Eat (RTE) production plans
  • Attend daily production meetings to communicate shortages from previous day, availability of materials, and reasons for shortage
  • Communicating with Customer Service Reps to insure delivery of supplies
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager on daily duties when required
  • Performs other related duties as necessary
  • Cross train within department

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post-secondary education would be preferred and/or equivalent industry experience
  • 2-3 years practical purchasing experience in a fast-paced production environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills i.e. Word, Excel, SAP, and Ariba
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and cross functional teams
  • Team Player
