We are looking for a Material Handler to join our Shipping and Receiving Teams in Aurora, Ontario.

Primary Purpose and Function: The primary job responsibilities of the position include maintaining organization of finished goods inventory, preparing shipments or delivery/shipping per customer specifications, providing material to machines for ongoing production by unloading materials, moving the material to racks and/or machines, and taking away finished product.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Move staged finished goods to location in racks
  • Pull product for shipping according to paperwork provided
  • Monitor inventory of shipping products (boxes, pallets, wrap)
  • Load trucks with proper products
  • Assist in the receiving of materials and unloading from trucks as needed
  • Operate computer location system to ensure accuracy of location of stock and extract information as needed
  • Print roll labels and attach to shipment (when needed)
  • Complete forklift/pallet jack inspection sheet weekly
  • Assist in keeping all work areas clean and safe
  • Supply production areas with all supplies needed to run efficiently (film, cores, boxes, strapping, etc.)
  • Move printed product from press to next staging area
  • Return raw film to racks in warehouse
  • Keep empty skids supplied at machines (or designated areas) for jobs being produced
  • Assist cycle counts
  • Comply with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and any job or department specific SOP’s.
  • Must work within productivity standards and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Special Projects & other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Forklift Certification/license
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential
Other Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
  • Able to earn and maintain forklift operation certification
  • Able to obtain high lift certification and safely operate high-reach lift
  • Able to safely operate various tow motors (sit down, high-reach, etc.)
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry
  • Basic reading and math skills
  • Ability to read ruler, tape measure
  • Usage of common tools (hammer, screwdriver, etc.)
  • Communicate well with other employees
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality of information to Company and Federal standards.
  • Must be dependable and work within Company conduct standards; consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
Physical Demands:
  • Able to lift up to 70 lbs (intermittently)
  • Frequent sitting on forklift
  • Bending and stooping for strapping of skids, rolls (intermittently)
  • Twisting of neck and back to safely operate forklift (intermittently)
  • Stepping/climbing on and off of tow motor (intermittently)
  • Walking, pushing, pulling for use of pallet jack (intermittently)
  • Ability to see and hear effectively to perform essential job functions safely.
Working Conditions:
  • Work in a manufacturing environment around machinery (concrete flooring).
  • Pedestrian awareness while on tow motor
  • Overtime as required
  • Ability to work in a non-air conditioned environment: hot conditions during summer months and cool conditions during winter months.
  • Follow all safety regulations and rules at all times, including wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE):
    • Eye protection
    • Steel-toe shoes
    • Hearing protection
    • Hairnets and beard nets
    • Work around solvents, ink, adhesives, and cleaners used in the manufacturing process.
