Job description

Our client is a global technology company providing software for the world’s leading companies and governments.

They have a six-month contract (maternity leave) for a dynamic marketing manager with technology experience. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of the strategic marketing plan for our client. Please note that this position may entail up to 20% travel including the US and abroad.

Summary:

You will manage the marketing communication, internal/external branding, business development marketing strategies, and support the development and promotion of new products for two business units.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years marketing management experience
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of software (technology) marketing
  • Strong English writing skills are essential
  • Strong understanding of information-based direct and loyalty marketing
  • Proven capability in the development of annual marketing plans, tactical campaigns and product offers
  • Experience/understanding of online marketing
  • Proven conceptual, creative, analytical skills
  • Strong negotiator

Education/Certification Required:

  • B.A./M.A. or BCom/MCom/MBA
  • Related marketing experience in the engineering software field may be substituted

Responsibilities:

You will manage a team of four employees that will directly report to this position: The Marketing Assistant, Senior Web Developer, Junior Web Developer and Technical Writer. Team management responsibilities could include: Development and maintenance of quarterly priorities; Development of Personal Performance Plans and Performance Reviews; Updating Job Mandates; Ensuring the progression of specialized skills.

Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Works closely with individual business units to support revenue generation initiatives.
  • Partners with other team members to foster productive relationships with peers and colleagues, stakeholders, external suppliers and clients.
  • Manages and measures all print and web advertising campaigns.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Develops, writes and promotes press releases, features and articles for various news wire services and/or publications.
  • Creates company newsletters (or e-newsletters) that support and promote product offerings, events and services.
  • Works with Developers, Product Managers, Department Directors, Sales Team Leaders etc. to solicit and integrate feedback into the sales and marketing process.
  • Works with internal staff and external agencies/freelancers to develop promotional and sales support concepts and oversees execution, print production and distribution as required.
  • Ensures the continuity of content across all marketing media including: Sales Support Materials, Trade Advertising, Web Sites.
  • Develops sales support and promotional materials for product lines as required by the internal Sales force, Customer Care team and VARs.
  • Develops and manages integration of brand value, ensuring that all facets of delivery accurately reflect the brand, includes process re-engineering to renew the brand; Integrates the Brand strategy with Marketing Communications, including advertising via appropriate medium.
  • Develops interview and survey techniques resulting in an accurate portrayal of client feedback. Makes recommendations and coordinates action plans based on the results.
  • Conducts post-mortem reviews on all marketing activities to determine successes and areas for improvement.

Business and Product Development:

  • Develops research requirements, managing the information gathering activities, and presenting the results.
  • Proactively integrates research and analysis results into product development, marketing and analytical plans.
  • Provides competitive intelligence and reports on current activities/trends within relevant industries.
  • Produces and implements comprehensive business building and niche marketing programs/materials to guide all facets of the client and inside sales relationship management including: Brochures, ROI’s, Business Cases, Testimonials and Marketing Support Materials.
  • Initiates, launches, tracks and manages marketing strategies initiatives in support of business development activities including lead generation and target marketing campaigns.
  • Identifies product and service gaps and opportunities for new product/service development, working with business leaders to create the concepts and verify the demand in the marketplace.
  • Conducts research/analysis into market potential and growth opportunities for new products/services and develop a process that enables senior management to assess Return on Investment and potential risk factors involved in the product launch.
  • Works with Product Development Team to grow content for both product and related technological concepts.
  • Participates in a new product process, with checks and balances in place, to effectively shepherd products through the development process. Qualifies product concepts to ensure that they are appropriately linked to the business objectives and that product innovation activities are aimed at the best and most appropriate opportunities.

Event Planning and Reward & Recognition Programs:

  • Assists in the co-ordination of tradeshows and company-sponsored events as needed.
  • Oversees the management and execution of promotional items.
  • Works with the management teams to develop Reward and Recognition Programs.
