The Marketing Lead for Canada will report to the Senior Marketing Director for the Americas. You will work together to develop strategic plans and execute, implement, and monitor marketing programs aimed at driving profitable growth in the region. The selected candidate will also act as a thought partner, sounding board, and consultant to the Senior Marketing Director for the Americas regarding regional activities, marketing planning, and operations, drawing on their deep understanding of the business, consumers, and the market.
By demonstrating strategic, creative, operational, and emotional effectiveness, the person in this role will define the company’s challenges and strategies to drive growth, encourage performance within the internal marketing team, manage partner agencies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including regional business leadership and teams responsible for public relations, media, product, marketing performance, and customer experience, to deliver actionable, locally relevant, and growth-focused marketing plans that realize the company and brand ambitions.
Responsibilities
- Develop growth plans for current and potential users in each market; collaborate with various functions to create an integrated roadmap, budget, and measurement plans that realize the strategy.
- Collaborate with Airbnb's global campaign team, internal creators, and other external partner agencies, ensuring resource optimization, timely briefings, contracts, payments, and a deep understanding of opportunities, challenges, and the brand and company plan.
- In partnership with other marketing stakeholders, develop and implement the marketing strategy for Canada, balancing alignment with the global strategy and regional opportunities.
- Advocate fiercely for localization in Canada; ensure that all marketing activities are local and personal; articulate market nuances for teams less familiar with the region.
- Execute and monitor end-to-end marketing efforts and campaign activities at both global and local levels.
Skills
- Over 10 years of experience in a marketing role, preferably with experience in a startup or fast-growing tech company.
- Experience working across Canada and ideally the Americas.
- Creative and analytical mindset with a proven ability to advocate for world-class creative marketing programs that deliver results.
- Integrated marketing mindset with experience amplifying campaigns across paid, owned, and earned channels.
- Strong business acumen to understand key business and consumer levers that unlock growth.
- Experience managing agencies and large multinational internal teams.
- Strong financial and accounting knowledge, with the ability to manage budgets, including forecasting, accruals, and year-end accounting.
- Willingness to travel regularly abroad.
- Successful experience leading teams, measuring return on investment, and being accountable for results.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills; ability to articulate a vision, strategy, and idea clearly and succinctly.
- Ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Interest in design and passion for Airbnb.
