Tasks

• Direct vessel movements in inland waterways using radar or other telecommunication equipment
• Monitor the movement of vessels in port to prevent potential hazards such as reefs
• Monitor vessel progress through traffic zones to maximize safety
• Obtain position, course, speed and estimated arrival time of vessels
• Operate and monitor centralized traffic control systems to co-ordinate and follow railway traffic
• Train staff
• Relay information to next marine traffic control sector
