An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Marine, Ports & Coastal Market Lead – Western Canada in our Burnaby office. The role will be responsible for identifying business opportunities, managing key client accounts, and leading all engineering processes in Western Canada. About the role
- Lead business development efforts for the Marine, Ports & Coastal sector in Western Canada by identifying, pursuing, and developing new opportunities through networking, referrals, and thorough market research. Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to capitalize on identified opportunities, ensuring the creation of sustainable, recurring, and strategic new business to support long-term growth objectives.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with existing clients and network to maximize business opportunities and foster long-term partnerships.
- Ensure high-quality output of studies/projects by effectively planning, coordinating, and managing resources.
- Provide technical advice, guidance, and oversight in the preparation of project and study reports, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Contribute to team growth by sharing industry knowledge, staying informed of market developments, and applying insights from past trends and diverse scenarios to deliver best-in-class solutions.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and execute strategic plans aimed at expanding client bases and deepening existing relationships. Take a leadership role in driving client engagement and business development in the region.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration, working closely with corporate business development teams and other business lines to ensure a unified approach in managing major clients and pursuing key opportunities and projects.
About you
You are an experienced consultant looking for your next challenge and can offer the following skills and experience:
- 20+ years of experience in technical and business development roles within an engineering consulting firm, specifically in the ports, terminals, and marine sectors. Construction experience is an asset.
- Comprehensive industry knowledge of the Ports, Terminals, and Marine markets, with hands-on experience managing key marine projects in Western Canada.
- Proven ability to leverage an established network of industry contacts to help attract new clients and support future business opportunities.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia or have the eligibility to obtain registration if currently registered in another province/state.
- Proven track record of developing and executing strategic plans for customer and market segments, consistently exceeding business objectives.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated experience delivering high-quality presentations to diverse audiences. Ability to converse and write in Spanish and/or French will be an asset.

Salary range: $170,000 - $230,000 annually
Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
