www.teranet.caAbout the Role Reporting to the Senior Manager, Cadastre Maintenance in Registries and Property Solutions, the Mapping Technician will provide map maintenance in Ontario’s Electronic Land Registration System through the assembly and analysis of property boundaries and title information collected from land registration records.
Please note that this position requires in-office presence during training period post which it would move to a hybrid work model.What You’ll Be Doing - Assembling, analyzing, evaluating, and entering survey plans and title information received from the Ministry of Public and Business Services Delivery and Procurement (MPBSDP), municipalities, and other sources as appropriate in the property mapping GIS database “OnMap”.
- Compile and enter relevant survey and boundary information by:
- Applying complex mathematical and arithmetic concepts and methods
- Entering data using co-ordinate geometry as well as other GIS techniques
- Determining the best approach to data entry and the process of handling boundary problems when updating OnMap.
- Update spatial and attribute data in OnMap.
- Provide quality control and assurance checks of map maintenance changes.
- Provide training to internal staff and contractors as required.
- Perform data entry of administrative information related to mapping task management.
- Perform map maintenance and quality control in a team environment to achieve all service levels and objectives.
About You- College certificate or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Survey Science, Engineering, GIS, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in legal surveying or GIS, with an emphasis on parcel mapping.
- Demonstrated knowledge of boundary and title records obtained through several years of experience in title searching or land surveying.
- Must possess a high degree of accuracy in interpreting legal surveys and registered documents related to property boundaries and ownership.
- Good communication and organizational skills, written and verbal, to convey complex problems clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work as part of a team with individual performance measurement for quality and production.
- Strong knowledge of Esri technology is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Teranet’s OnMap Model and Esri’s Canadian Parcel Data Model is an asset.
- Knowledge of standard MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) an asset.
- Experience in working with public sector organizations is an asset.
