Job Description:

What Is in It for You:

As the Senior Investment Director, you will be responsible for communicating information about investment strategies to both internal and external groups such as prospects, existing clients, advisors, and consultants. The Senior Investment Director will also help set strategic direction, engage in thought leadership, and interact with the portfolio management teams on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be a player/coach who has attained deep expertise in private markets asset classes or strategies and will play an active role in supporting SLC’s worldwide growth in the following areas:

Revenue Growth

  • Represent SLC in new business presentations, finals, and portfolio review meetings
  • Develop and conduct education/training for client-facing personnel
  • Raise the profile of competitive investment strategies or solutions to the client-facing organization
  • Develop messaging and create content of materials to differentiate SLC and explain performance
  • Collaborate with client-facing colleagues to develop customized client solutions
  • Opportunistically provide insight to distribution and global portfolio content & analytics partners in the completion of highly customized requests for proposals (RFPs)
  • Attend due diligence or sales events as required
  • Provide portfolio updates to internal and external partners
  • Understand each channel and develop appropriate product strategy

Product Management

  • Competitive Analysis – Analyzing assets and flows, competitive performance, and positioning; communication throughout the organization
  • Articulate points of differentiation for SLC products and strategies
  • Market support – Creating content for fact sheets, brochures, or web content. Developing storylines for fund positioning, and providing input on public relations, website, sales presentations, and talking points
  • Coordinate with portfolio management, sales, and marketing to ensure and communicate consistent product position and messaging
  • Develop proactive insights, perspectives, product training, and support to sales teams
  • Create new analytical tools and frameworks
  • Develop long-term strategic business plans for existing products
  • Product positioning and competitive differentiation; define unique capabilities and benefits/value proposition to effectively retain existing clients
  • Develop and communicate expertise on mutual fund and institutional industry trends

Thought Leadership

  • Present at industry conferences and SLC roundtables
  • Create non-product related content for SLC’s website and other media. Author articles to be published in industry and other periodicals
  • Contribute to the direction of SLC marketing themes
  • Establish reputation for SLC in the marketplace
  • Actively participate in the firm’s PR efforts

Product Development

  • Contribute new product development ideas
  • Gather and communicate intelligence from client/prospect/consultant meetings
  • Create client-facing enthusiasm for innovative new products
  • Collaborate with product development and portfolio management colleagues to bring new ideas to market

Business Partner

  • Share insights garnered externally with investment, client-facing and product teams
  • Client advocate within the organization
  • Comprehensive knowledge of investment philosophy, process, performance, and research
  • Independent, objective and experienced investment professional that serves as the crucial feedback mechanism to the investment management and distribution teams
  • Strong capital market knowledge combined with the ability to interpret and communicate the impacts to investment performance
  • Understand investment strategies, performance, and attribution analysis
  • Develop deep partner relations with all SLC functional units and knit groups together

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • 15 years of relevant experience and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong investment knowledge of capital markets and asset management
  • Proven client relations skills, including the ability to manage multiple constituent relationships within the organization
  • Ability to command respect from the external investment community, including clients, and have prior management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills and product knowledge
  • Poise, judgment and gravitas to represent SLC with clients and prospects
  • Must be a self-starter who is achievement oriented, motivated and has proven problem-solving skills in a client service role coupled with creative solutions
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to travel substantially
  • MBA preferred, CFA required

SLC Management is a regulated business, and this means that there are certain financial reporting and trading preclearance requirements for all employees. Successful candidates will be required to declare personal investment accounts and securities investments as well as seek preclearance on future transactions including those of household members.

Salary Range: 126,000 - 210,000

The Base Pay range is for the primary location of the job. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales-focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
