Overview of the Position
As a key member of the 2025 Host Society, the Manager, Venues will work closely with the Director, Sport, Venue and Athlete Services to manage the operation and fit-out of 20+ sports and non-sport venues.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning, executing and administering the venue, overlay and event services plans;
- Building, guiding, and overseeing volunteer leads for venue planning, fit-out, commissioning, and decommissioning;
- Supporting the negotiation of venue use agreements with all participating venues;
- Managing the procurement of furniture, fixtures and equipment for all venues;
- Collaborating closely with the Managers of Sport and Athlete Services to ensure a seamless experience during the Games;
- Planning and coordinating with key partners, including, the Canada Games Council and 2025 Host Society teams, local and regional partners, community organizations, venue owners, government officials and volunteers;
- Assisting in the planning and development process in the lead-up to the Games, and supporting the execution of that plan during the event;
- Being a fully engaged team member with a goal of positive and healthy relationships in the workplace;
- Executing all responsibilities in a manner which is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the St. John’s 2025 Canada Games;
- Fulfilling all other duties as reasonably required.
Education/Experience
- Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in Sport Management, Business Administration, Recreation, or other related field;
- Minimum five (5) years of related work experience or a combined equivalent of education and work experience.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in Multi-Sport Games or other high-pressure, complex Sporting or Event environments, with a demonstrated track record of building strong teams and executing tasks quickly and efficiently;
- Strong working knowledge and experience delivering the venue management model across multiple venues;
- Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of relationships and projects;
- Creative, results-oriented, able to deliver on deadlines and deliverables;
- Experience with Google’s G Suite programs (e.g. Gmail, Docs, Slides, Forms and Calendar, etc.);
- Ability to liaise and interact with multiple partners, locally, provincially and nationally.
Other
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
- Based on position requirements, flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Conditions of Employment
- Office hours are 40 hours per week.
