Overview:
The company’s Supply Chain function is integral to keeping the business running and the lights on. The Supply Chain Programs (SCP) team is part of the Supply Chain Central Services department and is accountable for managing supply chain functions (e.g. Accounts Payable, Vendor Maintenance) and several enterprise-wide programs (e.g. Travel, Credit Card, Stationery) in an effective and efficient manner. We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to lead the Supply Chain Programs team. The SCP team comprises 4 managers plus approximately 20 staff members and contractors that are in a mix of professional and union roles.

What you will be doing:
The Manager of Supply Chain Programs is responsible for overseeing the management of the teams responsible for:

  • Accounts Payable (AP) function and our supplier early payment discount program to ensure timely payments and increased discount revenues.
  • Vendor Maintenance function ensuring the controls and data governance over supplier information, including banking details, are working and effective.
  • Supply Chain Programs – services used across BC Hydro, such as corporate credit card, travel and office supplies and managing associated supplier contracts and relationships to ensure good value and service for these enterprise-wide contracts.
  • Bid Station, the team responsible for posting public procurement bids on BC Bid, receiving bid submissions from proponents, and ensuring the company follows proper procedures and policy.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements and cost-saving measures in the areas within its portfolio.
  • Responding to business group questions/concerns over AP and program policies and procedures in a timely manner and ensuring ongoing end-user process training and support in these areas.

The Manager, SCP is also responsible for:

  • Leading the management team and their teams in taking a strategic long-term perspective on the functions and programs within its portfolio to achieve its objectives and help meet the company’s mandate, while ensuring that the day-to-day operations are run effectively and efficiently.
  • Providing leadership and enhanced support to the Accounts Payable team to ensure that payments are made on a timely basis, issues are resolved effectively, service performance targets are established, monitored, and managed and that the needs of both internal clients and suppliers are met.
  • Providing leadership to the Corporate Card, Corporate Travel and other programs and contracts, managing supplier performance, compliance, internal processes, user support, and intranet presence.
  • Consulting regularly with cross business group senior managers to communicate objectives and status, facilitate problem solving and securing support of programs.
  • Reviewing procedures to ensure they have appropriate and effective monitoring, approvals and required controls and to address areas of potential risk.
  • Developing recommendations for policy and procedure changes for the functions and programs managed by the Supply Chain Programs, while ensuring they are aligned with, and in compliance with, the company corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Leading implementation of revised procedures or make modifications to achieve better results.
  • Identifying, recommending, and leading the implementation of process improvements and cost savings to increase value to BC Hydro.

What you must have:

  • Post-Secondary degree in business, technology, data analytics, supply chain or related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years related business experience including 5 years at a managerial level in a large organization or equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience building and leading high performing teams – in situations with direct reporting and matrixed team members.
  • Experience working in a business environment that is complex, with multiple stakeholders and strategic considerations.
  • Experience in leading and balancing multiple projects/initiatives/strategies and implementing innovative, broad scope solutions.
  • Experience in leadership and performance management of Accounts Payable and Vendor Data Governance.
  • Experience in working in an SAP environment and Ariba will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and compliance programs.

Salary/Rate Range: $135,000-150,000
