Job Description

The Manager provides strategic direction for domestic student recruitment, leads a team responsible for domestic education opportunities and partnerships across Canada. Ensuring the effective creation, coordination, implementation, evaluation and reporting of the annual recruitment plan, the Manager broadly communicates comprehensive knowledge of the University and program offerings to prospective students. The Manager understands and analyses market knowledge of targeted domestic regions, as well as target audiences, ranging from high school students to executives, and commits to creative and innovative recruitment of assigned portfolios. Establishing sound and efficient administrative processes and procedures, the Manager ensures smooth operations, bridging the work of the unit with key stakeholders, faculty, partners, prospects and students. Understanding the importance of achieving key performance indicators, the Manager, working with the Director, leads the team to secure about 5,000 domestic prospects a year.

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in administration, business, communications, education, leadership or marketing plus a minimum of seven to ten years’ relevant work experience in a post-secondary environment (preferably in the areas of student recruitment, marketing, student/academic advising or similar). Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered if extensive experience relevant to the position outcomes and competencies can be demonstrated.
  • Proven excellence in the fields of communications, recruitment, project management and budget management.
  • Managerial experience leading and supervising a team of professionals and demonstrated ability to foster a team approach aimed at accomplishing the university’s goals and to positively influence people using consultative, consensus-building techniques.
  • Solid market knowledge of Canada and key domestic student recruitment markets for the university.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in managing a domestic recruitment network.
  • Strong comprehension of digital student recruitment engagement strategy and tactics.
  • Results oriented, with the ability to bring fresh creative ideas, energy and approaches to existing strategies.
  • Advanced digital literacy including MS Office 365 and social media.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally and work occasional evening and weekend hours.

An ideal candidate would also possess (asset, not required):

  • Royal Roads University education
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English
  • Experience studying, working and/or travelling abroad.

Additional Information

This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at ME-A with a salary range of $94,019 (minimum) to $110,612 (midpoint) to $127,204 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
