Overview

The Manager, Sourcing and Product Strategy is a key role responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for steel, HVAC supply products, and other critical materials, ensuring a competitive supply base, and aligning sourcing activities with Ecco Group’s overall business objectives. This role requires extensive subject matter expertise in steel and metals markets, strong vendor relationship management skills, and the ability to act as a strategic commodity buyer.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sourcing Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive strategic sourcing strategies for steel, HVAC components, and other relevant commodities, considering market trends, supply chain risks, and cost optimization opportunities.
  2. Commodity Buying and Supplier Management: Manage the procurement of steel, aluminum, and other raw materials, negotiate contracts, optimize pricing structures, and ensure timely delivery.
  3. Supplier Development and Risk Mitigation: Build and maintain strong relationships with key domestic and international suppliers. Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to ensure a resilient and diversified supply base.
  4. Market Analysis: Monitor metals industry market dynamics, including global trade policies, commodity pricing trends, supply chain disruptions, and technological advancements. Provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders.
  5. Product Strategy Collaboration: Work closely with product development and engineering teams to understand material requirements and ensure alignment between sourcing strategies and product roadmaps.
  6. Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives related to raw material procurement, including strategic negotiations, hedging strategies, supplier consolidation, and process improvements.
  7. Supply Chain Risk Management: Assess and mitigate potential risks in the global supply chain, such as geopolitical instability, regulatory changes, supplier financial health, and raw material availability constraints.
  8. Contract Negotiation and Compliance: Negotiate, execute, and manage supplier agreements, ensuring long-term cost stability, favorable terms, and alignment with company policies.
  9. Supplier Performance Management: Track and analyze supplier KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost competitiveness, quality compliance, and service levels. Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvements.
  10. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams including sales, operations, finance, quality assurance, and legal to ensure strategic sourcing alignment with business goals.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and commodity management, with a strong focus on steel, metals, and industrial components.
  3. In-depth knowledge of steel markets, including pricing mechanisms, global supply chain dynamics, trade regulations, and industry best practices.
  4. Proven success in vendor relationship management, contract negotiations, and supplier performance improvement.
  5. Strong data-driven decision-making skills with expertise in cost modeling, spend analysis, and market forecasting.
  6. Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
