Manager, Social Services

South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre (SEOCHC) is a non-profit, community-governed organization that provides a range of multi-disciplinary services to clients, including primary care, health promotion, social services, community and resource development, home support, and advocacy to address the social determinants of health. SEOCHC particularly responds to persons who face barriers to accessing health and social services and who live in South-East Ottawa. Our services and programs are designed to meet the needs of our community.


We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our social services team within the Department of Community and Social Services. The Manager will work with highly skilled interprofessional staff, which includes social workers, counselors, admin staff, community connections staff, and many other colleagues and teams. Our teams provide social services supports at our Main site, at our satellite locations, as well as in the community and outreach settings. The role will support integrated client and community-centered supports based on the social determinants of health. The Manager also plays an active role as community partner, advocate, and leader. In collaboration with the Director, the Manager will create a culture of evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement, support interprofessional collaboration and care, and address the needs of equity-deserving populations.


The Manager, Social Services role will be accountable for the overall delivery of integrated social services programs offered by the centre and in community settings. Teams will include Intake, Community Connections, as well as administrative staff. This role will provide onsite leadership and position this team as a central support to our community.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master’s degree in public health, social work, health administration, or other relevant discipline (an asset)
  • Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience in a community social services setting
  • Understanding and knowledge of the community health and social services sector
  • Experience working with partner agencies, supporting integration, and other creative initiatives to improve access/outcomes to equity-deserving populations
  • Knowledge of practice guidelines governing regulated professionals such as social workers and counsellors
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional values, privacy, ethics, and standards of practice
  • Good knowledge and alignment with the community health centre model, social determinants of health, preventative care, harm reduction, digital health, health equity lens, and other emerging trends in healthcare
  • Proven leadership skills; sound judgement, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, creative systems thinker, and solutions-oriented
  • Able to prioritize and facilitate change management
  • Able to de-escalate stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Fluent in English; French and other languages considered an asset
  • Related experience in program development, evaluation, and report writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with electronic health records
  • Regulated professional, such as social worker or counsellor, OR working towards registered professional status (an asset)
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends

SALARY RANGE: $89,434 - $101,610 (benefits, HOOPP)
