Description

Located out of our Inter Pipeline Calgary or Sherwood Park office, the Manager, Safety, Training & Risk Management will report to the Vice President of Operations, Transportation. As a key member of the Transportation Operations team, this multifaceted leadership position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, implementing and monitoring programs to promote industry leading performance in the following areas:

  • Health and safety
  • Emergency response and preparedness
  • Security
  • Training
  • Process safety
  • Fleet management

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Provide visible leadership in support of improving safety culture at all levels of operations
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and key decisions representing health and safety serving on various internal steering committees
  • Ensure all employees are knowledgeable on and strive to embody the corporate core values
  • Improve processes to ensure operations are compliant with applicable regulations, contract obligations and Inter Pipeline requirements as evidenced through audits and inspections
  • Recommended corrective actions implemented in a timely manner and the learning is applied across operations to prevent recurrence.
  • Set direction to align emergency preparedness and response plans and security programs with corporate and departmental strategies and initiatives
  • Ensure team is available to conduct risk assessments to ensure adequate emergency and security preparedness throughout the organization
  • Support corporate Incident Command Team during emergency response and recovery events
  • Support a strategic needs assessment of the organizational performance, learning and development needs and context as well as support in a more focused training needs analysis for specific learning and development projects
  • Support strategic thinking to provide instructional design and project management leadership for medium to large training and learning development projects
  • Support the cultivating of building of relationships with key operations and transportation stakeholders to support the training and development team to design, develop and deliver effective quality programs and learning activities
  • Contribute to the development of processes, procedures, standards, metrics, templates and other related learning and development infrastructure as needed
  • Drive and support the transportation’s safety and compliance program

Education, Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of related industry experience
  • Proven track record in successfully leading a HSSE team within a large organization
  • Post-secondary education (university, college) in a related discipline such as Health and Safety or Risk Management or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strategic and driven leader with strong leadership values including empathy, accountability and approachability

Hours

Permanent full time

Some travel between Sherwood Park and Calgary office along with travel into the field locations located across Alberta and Saskatchewan

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment education verification, drivers abstract and criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
