Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Sustainability & Environmental Policy, the Manager, Reporting and Disclosures will enhance Canada Post’s brand as a leader in environmental, social and governance (ESG) through sustainability reporting and disclosures. They will drive collaboration with stakeholders from across the organization to support effective and consistent external disclosures and will have a leadership role in progressing an enterprise-wide project to evolve our ESG disclosure strategy.

Job Responsibilities

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, Reporting and Disclosures.

  1. Partner with key stakeholders in the preparation of CPC’s ESG-related disclosures to report on our sustainability strategy and performance, covering key ESG topics, while maturing our ESG disclosure strategy and approach.
  2. Through industry benchmarking, trend and reporting framework analysis, research, communications, and materiality assessments influence the adoption of trends in ESG disclosures and drive progress on ESG ratings and perceptions.
  3. Support the development and implementation of an external and employee communications strategy as it relates to ESG and strategic focus areas, elevating stakeholder perception and CPC’s brand reputation.
  4. Support internal performance on ESG by developing ESG Scorecards, dashboards and Governance processes. Assist in the preparation of internal presentations, memos and scorecards for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  5. Support the integration of relevant ESG disclosures on corporate website in alignment with ESG purpose and strategy and reporting frameworks and standards while collaborating with the Marketing, Communications and ESG teams on customer-centric ESG-related content, leveraging innovative and integrated ways to deliver ESG messaging to scale narrative and improve reach to stakeholders.
  6. Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners to influence the development of effective communication materials and vehicles that meet the regulatory requirements and voluntary commitments, including share examples of best practice in disclosure and identify areas of opportunity for strengthening internal practices and programs.
  7. Develop and oversee a modern system for ESG management and reporting – i.e. manage data and information gathering, audit, and disclosure processes, in close coordination with the company’s Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Controls, External Financial Reporting and Legal functions; and, manage data and information reporting and disclosure in close coordination with the company’s Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations functions.
  8. Manage our annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory and verification, according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
  9. Contribute to managing our carbon offset and renewable energy certificate accounting, documentation, and claims.

Qualifications

Education

• Completed post-secondary, preferably in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Sustainability, Political Science, or Communications OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training.

• Specialized training in GRI, SASB, CDP an asset.

Experience

• 3 to 5 years of relevant functional experience in sustainability reporting and disclosures.

• 2 or more years experience managing people.

• 1 or more years of experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

Other Candidate Requirements

• Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs.

• Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience.

• Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving.

• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships.

• Experience in ESG strategy, ratings/ranking methodologies, and data management approaches for ESG metrics.

• A thorough understanding of ESG standards and guidelines such as SASB, GRI, TCFD and SBTi.

• Outstanding and concise written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills.

• Proven leadership in strategy development. Experience with leading or delivering complex corporate strategy initiatives.

• Strong change management skills and ability to adapt both quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities.

• Proven ability to develop and track metrics and report on progress.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver commitments on time and budget.

• Ability to think laterally and leverage previous experience and solutions that can be applied to new projects.

• Proven ability to apply a consumer mindset to strategy development.

• Bilingualism is considered an asset.
