Dawson Construction is looking for a Manager, Quality Control who will lead the quality assurance and quality control processes for operations, ensuring that all work meets or exceeds client expectations and regulatory requirements.
In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Construction, working in a permanent, full-time position of Manager, Quality Control. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager and a key member of the leadership team, this role will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and crew members to monitor and evaluate paving projects from inception to completion, focusing on quality, efficiency, and safety. Your base location will be Kamloops, B.C. and will require some travel throughout our great province.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Develop and implement quality standards for construction projects to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of ongoing projects to monitor workmanship, material quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Oversee testing procedures for materials, including asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and other related materials.
- Collaborate with the project and operations teams to address quality issues proactively, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Train and guide field personnel in quality assurance practices and methods to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Review and analyze project documentation and quality reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain records of quality assurance activities and develop quality control documentation, including site inspection records, reports, and corrective action plans.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and support a safe work environment for all crew members and site personnel.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management or quality control, preferably in the paving, construction, or civil engineering industry.
- Certification in engineering or similar accreditation is required.
- Strong understanding of materials testing, construction standards, and paving operations.
- Familiarity with industry-specific quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively with team members at all levels.
