MacLean Engineering is looking for a skilled and experienced Manager – Quality Assurance and Environmentto join our team in Collingwood Ontario. About the Position:The Manager of Quality Assurance and Operational Excellence is responsible for; defining and implementing business and operational strategies in Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Customer Satisfaction and Compliance; providing leadership to support the Company’s objectives and to manage the organization’s Business, Quality and Environmental Management Systems in accordance with the objectives of the organization and the values and principles of the “MacLean Way” and in accordance with ISO9001; ISO14001 and other international standards; to ensure consistent quality of products, processes with a focus on continuous improvement as well as working with Team members across the organization, to promote and implement strategies to strive for global Product excellence and Environmental stewardship.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Seasoned self-starter capableof establishingand communicating business strategies, goals and objectives for the organization.
  • Provide leadership to manage and motivate teams in multiple locations domestically and internationally.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive quality management system to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practice, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and maintain a global Quality Assurance program that ensures at source quality validation and compliance to engineering and product quality specifications.
  • Develop quality assurance requirements and processes to be followed at all levels of the organization to ensure a goal of zero defects from all work centers.
  • Develop process strategies to ensure project targets of – scope, budget and schedule are met.
  • Evaluate and maintain ISO 9001 certifications, ensure compliance to maintain ISO registration and expand the principles and culture of the Quality Management System on a global scale.
  • Assist in the development of the organization’s environmental goals in seeking compliance and certification of an Environmental Management System based on the principles of ISO14001.
  • Direct all aspects of the Quality and Environmental Management functions, ensuring the SOP’s are developed and maintained in accordance to ISO requirements.
  • Maintain, assess and update QMS/EMS database and communicate new SOP’s and SOP revisions across the organization to stakeholders.
  • Develop, lead and evaluate regular internal Quality audits at different facilities.
  • Long term planning to prepare and implement the QMS, EMS and ISO9001/ISO14001 compliance or certification across the global organization.
  • Host and oversee regulatory or customer audits and Management reviews.
  • Coordinate and communicate action plans to Ownership, Senior Management and relevant Stakeholders based on internal and external audit findings.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for all personnel to the requirements of our Quality Assurance Program and mentor Team members across the organization in the detailed interpretation of the Quality Management System.
  • Review resource capacity to ensure that available capacity meets resource load required and make recommendations on increasing resources as necessary.
  • Provide updates to Team members on company policies, rules and general information updates from the organization.
  • Assist in establishing budgets and cost control measures for direct reporting departments.
  • Review performance and provide on-going support, mentoring and training to direct reports.
  • Assist in the development and execution of Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Assess compliance issues and non-conformances and implement measurable and sustainable corrective actions. Analyze non-conformance issues through detailed root cause analysis to identify areas where corrective actions and OFI’s can be implemented.
  • Report regularly to Senior Management regarding KPI’s including but not limited to, risks and opportunities, non-conformances and areas for improvement.
  • Demonstrate Safe work habits in compliance with all company and regulatory requirements, regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure that all safety requirements are being carried out by the team when performing their duties.
  • Ensure employees have been trained and adhere to Company policies.
  • Ensure Team’s adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and work with HR to undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
  • Manage employees’ scheduled hours, attendance, and vacation using ADP.
  • Capable of working under minimal supervision & able to plan and schedule priorities.

About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with the following qualifications:

  • Minimum University degree or College Diploma in a Technical/Engineering discipline
  • Training in Supervisory Studies and Certificate of Completion is an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Quality Management role
  • 3-5 years direct experience Supervising and Mentoring direct reports.
  • 1-3 years experience in Environmental Management/ISO14001 role would be an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effect change to meet quality and environmental goals through Change Management processes and techniques.
  • Proven ability to implement and maintain ISO standards and principles throughout the organization.
  • Strong technical and practical knowledge in manufacturing processes, evaluations, test procedures.
  • Proven ability to assess, improve and/or re-design current processes/procedures to maintain and improve product quality.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines while being efficient, effective and flexible in unanticipated situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong ability to motivate, develop, assess and mentor direct reports, internal auditors.
  • Must be able to effectively prepare and report executive summaries to Senior Management.

This Is not a remote/hybrid position and will be located in our Collingwood, Ontario office.
