Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Manager, Operations Support & Compliance to join our Operations Support Department!
What You Will Do
Reporting to the Head, Operations Support, you will be responsible for supporting the Transportation and Vehicles Group with day-to-day operations as well as assisting in the overall management and administration of the Operations Support Department. You will be responsible for leading and providing advice on the development and implementation of Transportation and Vehicles Group strategies, policies and procedures.
Other responsibilities of your role will include:
- Assisting the Head, Operations Support in providing day to day support to the Transportation and Vehicles Group from a strategic, project, procedural and compliance perspective.
- Directing and/or conducting various projects, investigations and programs for the Transportation and Vehicles Group, including interpreting results of studies as well as developing and recommending alternatives to correct deficiencies and improve operational efficiency.
- Leading the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of operating and administrative rules, standards, procedures and programs for the Transportation and Vehicles Group; ensuring that such rules and procedures do not negatively impact safety of customers and employees or transit service.
- Acting as a Transportation and Vehicles Group resource and providing advice, direction and interpretation regarding rules, procedures, and standards.
- Leading in the implementation of TTC, Department and Group level policies.
- Responsible for all components of the Transportation and Vehicles Group Emergency Preparedness, Business Continuity program and Rules Compliance Programs including the management of the Divisional Support section.
- Assessing departmental and group level processes to ensure consistency and effectiveness and leading various transformation and change management initiatives within the Group.
- Leading development, consolidation and administration of departmental and group level business plans, strategies, goals and objectives.
- Leading comprehensive analyses utilizing organizational and operational performance data, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
- Researching information and preparing/presenting various reports and recommendations related to all areas of responsibility.
- Liaising with internal/external contacts regarding all areas of responsibility as required.
- Keeping informed of industry trends, best practices and new technology.
- Responsible for and managing performance of section staff.
- Will substitute for the Head, Operations Support, during periods of absence as required or on a rotational basis.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- Completion of University Degree, or College Diploma in a related discipline, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent combined with progressively responsible experience in management and administration.
- Sound knowledge of business administration principles, practices and procedures.
- Sound knowledge of research methods and techniques.
- Good understanding of pertinent legislation (i.e. Health & Safety regulations, etc.)
- Excellent analytical, investigative and problem solving skills to deal with the complexities of managing large projects.
- Ability to lead, plan, and manage several projects and make sound business decisions in a timely fashion.
- Ability to develop, recommend and implement operations and administrative policies, procedures, standards, rules and performance measures.
- Must be able to motivate employees and co-ordinate efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
- Must have the ability to track multiple projects and make sound business decisions in a timely fashion to adapt to changing situations.
- Working knowledge of computers and relevant computer applications.
- Knowledge of the risks and controls present in the transit operating environment including all transportation modes.
- Must possess sound judgement, effective time management skills; superior oral communication and writing skills; good public speaking, public relations, and presentation skills; excellent administrative, team building, leadership, investigative analytical and problem solving skills; well developed organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
- Demonstrated ability to apply effective management skills to lead a team, mentor, coach and motivate staff to ensure objectives are met with regard for quality and effectiveness.
- Proven experience managing complex programs and projects interfacing with internal stakeholders.
- Must have or develop knowledge of departmental and TTC organizational structure, operations, functions, policies and procedures applicable to the work performed.
- Comprehensive knowledge of TTC policies, transit operations, operations rules, procedures and operational issues relating to transit operations, safety and emergency operating procedures.
- Must obtain and maintain Rule Book certification.
- Must have or develop a thorough knowledge of TTC Collective Agreements.
