Durham Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) is a non-profit feminist organization that believes in the equality of all regardless of race, class, sexual orientation, or gender. Overview:
The Manager of Finance and Administration is responsible for managing all general administration and financial duties of the DRCC. This position is responsible for all aspects of the accounting cycle including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, government remittances, and bank reconciliations. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and will assist with budgeting, account analysis and creating financial reports. This position reports to the Director of Finance & Administration and/or Executive Director.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the financial records using bookkeeping software
- Reconcile various accounts, post the journal entries on a regular basis, maintain the ledgers and prepare all the financial statements
- Assist with annual audit preparation including reports, materials and back-up documents as required
- Carry out calculations and appropriate back-up materials for preparing cheques for accounts payable
- Perform all banking duties which includes deposits, petty cash, and online banking
- Responsible for preparing all donation receipts
- Prepare and maintain payroll on a biweekly basis
- Reconcile payroll for processing and submission of T4 for government filing
- Manage and maintain group benefits plans for staff
- Preparation of all financial and accounting reports as requested by Executive Director
- Perform general administrative duties including but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing, and maintenance of hard copy and electronic filing system
- Support staff in assigned project-based work, including cost tracking and cost-benefit analysis
- Maintain and update an inventory of all office materials
- Liaison with the bank, landlord and other contract service providers
- Maintain, support and track all HR/staffing information including sick days, vacation and personnel files
- Provide IT services and general maintenance when required, including adding/deleting users to network and Outlook, responsible for backups, etc.
- Provide administrative support to Executive Director and organization, including board meeting preparation and scheduling
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Relevant educational training (CGA, CMA, CA designation) and/or equivalent experience (min two years experience in financial management/accounting)
- College diploma or University degree in related field, MBA etc. considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Internet research)
- Highly organized and able to multitask under strict timelines
- Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with staff at all levels and external contacts
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills that promote mutually beneficial, respectful and professional relationships
- Ability to adapt to and learn new software or systems
- Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning
