Job Summary:
The Manager of Communications & Marketing will be responsible for overseeing all communications and marketing activities for McMurray Metis Local 1935. The incumbent will lead comprehensive communication efforts that elevate the organization’s brand, promote its mission, and engage stakeholders across multiple platforms. This role includes managing the Communications team, overseeing branding and messaging strategies, and ensuring effective execution of marketing initiatives.
Acting as the primary liaison for the President and key executives, the incumbent will support executive objectives through organized communication strategies, public representation, and government relations efforts. This position is pivotal in enhancing the visibility and reputation of McMurray Métis and its Cultural Centre, while fostering connections with media, government, and community stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all communications, including print, digital, and equipment-related media for the McMurray Metis, IMC & the Cultural Centre.
- Manage the Communications team, ensuring smooth operation and delivery of communication efforts.
- Develop and implement the branding strategy, maintaining a consistent and professional image across all platforms.
- Oversee the marketing efforts, including campaigns, promotions, and partnerships.
- Coordinate and manage event signage, ensuring branding and messaging are clear and cohesive.
- Oversee and manage the social media presence, ensuring engagement and growth across platforms.
- Serve as the primary liaison and handler for the President of MML, managing communications, coordinating schedules, and ensuring effective organization of meetings and events to support the President’s objectives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to current staff, fostering their professional development and enhancing team collaboration within the communications and marketing department.
- Act as the primary representative for McMurray Métis Cultural Center, effectively communicating the mission and initiatives to stakeholders, media, and the public.
- Develop and write engaging news articles to highlight organizational initiatives, achievements, and events, ensuring alignment with MML’s communication strategy.
- Act as the main representative for the President of MML, Executive Director of MML, and President and CEO of Infinity Métis Corp, facilitating communication and promoting their initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
- Writing speeches as required.
- Develop & implement a strategy for Government relations & media responses (including news articles).
- Implement & oversee a digital media strategy.
- Compose and submit nomination letters for awards and recognitions on behalf of the organization and members.
- Maintain and manage the center’s website, ensuring all content is up-to-date, user-friendly, and optimized for performance.
- Lead sponsorship development efforts, identifying and securing potential sponsors to support the Cultural Center’s mission and events.
- Identify and procure state-of-the-art communications equipment for professional delivery of event communications.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in communications, marketing, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience in government, industry and media relations, with a strong understanding of the dynamics and best practices in each sector.
- Proven experience with branding, digital media, and content creation.
- Strong writing skills, with experience crafting speeches, letters, and content for various audiences.
- Familiarity with website management and social media platforms.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in sponsorship development is a plus.
