About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Provincial Director, Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness, and working as part of the leadership team, the Provincial Lead will provide advice and services on matters of Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness at the Provincial level. The Provincial Lead/Manager for Occupational Health, Safety, and Wellness - Disability Management will oversee and contribute to the development and implementation of provincial processes and policies. These responsibilities encompass disability management (including occupational and non-occupational illness), attendance management, performance planning, and initiatives supporting occupational health, safety, and wellness. The provincial lead ensures compliance with direction set at the level of the province, and through implementation of policies and processes, ensures continuous improvement to advance a vision of excellence within their areas of responsibility.

The provincial Lead will also work with IWK on the provision of shared services related to health, safety, and wellness, where appropriate, and with other education institutions, government and other partners to meet current and future human resource requirements, such as:

1. occupational health and wellness
2. respectful workplace culture
3. employee assistance services
4. safety programs (occupational, radiation, fire)
5. safety audit and workplace investigations
6. awareness and injury prevention initiatives
7. health workplace and wellness initiatives
8. absenteeism, attendance & disability case management
9. workers compensation

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, health, business, public administration, or a related field or a combination of education and 10 years’ progressive leadership experience.
2. Master’s degree is an asset.
3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in progressive leadership positions involved in planning and delivering comprehensive occupational health services within a complex, integrated service model provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders.
4. Knowledge of and management experience in developing and managing programs related to health, safety and wellness.
5. Demonstrated experience delivering significant improvements in disability management programs.
6. Experience working collaboratively with WCB to reduce rates.
7. Experience as a strategic advisor and operational leader within a complex organization, enabling change.
8. Experience in project management principles and implementation.
9. Demonstrated knowledge of policy impact and development.
10. Knowledge of health care organizations and the health sector.
11. Comfortable leading in a unionized context.
12. Ability to build engagement among peers and business leaders to support new strategies and change management.
13. High level of competence in both written and verbal communication.
14. Experience working with diversity of staff and stakeholders, with knowledge of cultural competence, diversity and social inclusion.
15. Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks related to the workforce.
16. Sound knowledge of information systems and financial management.

Hours

• Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
• Monday to Friday with rotational weekend on call
• Travel will be required within the province.
• Location will be determined based on the Successful Candidate
• Hybrid work program

Compensation and Benefits

$42.94 - $57.05 Hourly
