The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a motivated Manager, Land Development and Municipal Engineering for our Medicine Hat, Alberta office. Reporting to the Director of Land Development and Municipal Engineering Southern Alberta, the successful candidate should have a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in engineering, project leadership and client engagement. The position will be responsible for leading the local team in the Medicine Hat Office and providing leadership in project management, design, and construction support to a team of 10+ staff.

What you can expect to do here:
- Develop and implement business development strategies, including coordination with other internal business lines.
- Manage and deliver projects in transportation, land development, and municipal infrastructure, including report and proposal writing, client liaison, and project management.
- Monitor and manage overall workload and staffing levels within the department to maintain overall utilization at target levels.
- Accountable for the overall financial and operational performance of the department, including the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Responsible for overall resource management, including recruitment, team building, staff development, performance management, and salary review process.
- Provide effective leadership and collaboration with other disciplines.
- Lead, develop and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical support staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- Degree in Engineering or Certificate in Engineering Technology with 15+ years of consulting and/or municipal experience.
- 8+ years of managing and mentoring technical staff.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience in business development.
- Strong knowledge of the City of Medicine Hat and surrounding regional municipal clients and market.
- Experience in project management.
- Transportation, Land Development, and Municipal engineering design and construction experience is essential, particularly with water, sanitary, and stormwater projects.
- Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
