Objective of Position
This is a full-time position based in Edmonton, AB, reporting to the Director of IT. The Manager - IT Application Services team leads a team of 11 staff members in the development, maintenance, and support of software applications that are critical to the operations of Durabuilt Windows & Doors Inc.
Key applications include Salesforce, ERP systems, Accounting systems, Human Resource Information systems, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The team is also responsible for custom in-house applications and integration work. The manager ensures applications are developed, deployed, and supported efficiently, aligning with strategic business objectives while driving innovation and delivering measurable results.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of 11, fostering collaboration, productivity, and motivation.
- Manage the software development life cycle, ensuring applications are delivered on time, within budget, and to stakeholder satisfaction.
- Ensure optimum application support by meeting defined SLAs for first response and resolution times across priorities.
- Define and execute application roadmaps aligned with strategic business goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation by identifying and implementing AI-driven solutions that address business challenges and improve operational efficiency.
- Oversee the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical applications, ensuring they are maintainable, scalable, and integrated with other systems.
- Facilitate change management initiatives and engage with stakeholders to ensure smooth adoption of new applications and system enhancements.
- Act as a bridge between IT and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Measure and track team performance using key performance indicators (KPIs), such as development velocity, defect ratios, and user satisfaction scores.
- Ensure the ERP system is maintained and enhanced to meet evolving business needs.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee the integration of third-party applications.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred : Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics), MES platforms, and AI-driven tools.
- Certifications in Salesforce, Agile methodologies, or ERP systems are considered a plus.
Experience / Capabilities
- Proven experience leading software development and IT application services teams.
- Familiarity with defining and tracking KPIs, such as development velocity, defect ratios, and application support SLAs.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, with familiarity with the Scrum framework being an advantage.
- Proficiency in system integrations, including RESTful APIs, flat file exchanges, and direct database access.
- Strong technical background with exposure to modern programming languages, frameworks, and integration tools relevant to enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Hands-on experience with software development, including exposure to the full software development life cycle, project management, and quality assurance.

Working Conditions
- Intermittent travel may be required to support the IT department, attend meetings and training sessions.
- Operate primarily in an office environment.
- Pressure to produce tangible results and complete projects within tight timelines.
