Overview:
BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction.
Reporting to the Director Indigenous Relations, the Indigenous Relations Manager will play a pivotal role in fostering positive relationships between the Company and Indigenous communities. Your responsibilities span a wide range of duties, ensuring effective engagement, partnership, and compliance with commitments. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally, communicate strategically, and promote mutual respect. Safety and environmental stewardship are integral to your success. This role is based in the mine region.
Work Location Options:
- Work from home as long as located within the mine region (Mine Region - from Burns Lake east to Prince George and from Prince George South to Williams Lake)
- Hybrid arrangement of work from home and office, if located near the Vanderhoof or Prince George office
Responsibilities:
Development of Mutually Beneficial Relationships:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous nations that manage impacts and share benefits from the Blackwater Mine.
- Ensure transparent, respectful, and meaningful engagement.
- Represent the Company on Indigenous nations-related committees providing leadership, administrative support, active participation or other roles as required.
- Maintain key contacts in Indigenous communities and represent the Company in communities and at events.
- Maintain an awareness of national, regional and local Indigenous matters that could affect Blackwater Mine operations and Indigenous community priorities.
Engagement and Consultation:
- Maintain accurate records, including meeting minutes, action items, and managing related tracking systems.
- Collaborate with regulatory and environmental teams including leading engagement on applications, permit conditions, and management plans consistent with regulatory requirements and agreement commitments.
- Assist in developing engagement plans, reports and other documents, and facilitating consultations.
Agreements and Compliance
- Develop and manage implementation plans related to agreements with Indigenous nations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and agreement commitments including oversight of groups and committees.
Internal Communication and Travel:
- Provide regular briefings and support to internal stakeholders including operational teams, business opportunities, and human resources.
- Regular travel to the mine site and Indigenous communities to support effective engagement.
- Support Indigenous Relations team in developing budgets and tracking and reporting on spend relative to budget.
- Facilitate efficient communication within the team.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in a related field.
- 5-10 years of relevant Indigenous Relations experience.
- Familiarity with operating mines or similar facilities and knowledge of BC mining regulatory systems.
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous Peoples history, protocols, values and governance and experience working with Indigenous Peoples in Canada, preferably in central BC.
- Written and Oral Communication: Professional communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders in a variety of forums.
- Professional Document Preparation: Ability to create well-structured documents within the Microsoft SharePoint and Teams environment.
- Document Management: Organize and maintain records efficiently.
- Project Management: Ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks.
- Conflict Management: Identify and handle conflicts fairly and efficiently.
- Cultural Fluency: Enable effective and respectful engagement in culturally diverse environments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams within the organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to produce results quickly and efficiently.
