OVERVIEW:

The Manager, Inclusion Programs is a motivated self-starter that will be a key member of Golf Canada’s Sport team. The successful candidate will be passionate about increasing programs and opportunities for participation in golf for people of all backgrounds, genders, and abilities, and possess the business and programmatic acumen to do so successfully. This person will develop and deliver programs and initiatives targeting women and girls with the ultimate objective of ensuring these programs are delivered at scale nationally by golf courses and other collaborators.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Women’s Participation Programming – She Plays Golf (50%)

  1. Lead the development and execution of She Plays Golf festivals and other program components, including travel to festival locations to deliver events.
  2. Maintain overall program budget.
  3. Develop participant recruitment strategies and lead in executing strategies to reach participation targets.
  4. Work with Golf Canada’s partnerships team and program sponsors to ensure all terms of partner agreements are fulfilled successfully.
  5. Work with marketing department to ensure marketing assets are developed and maintained to support continued program success, including webpage.
  6. Analyze and evaluate program data and metrics to continually assess and improve program objectives and components.
  7. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Ensure supplies, signage and other materials are ordered and shipped in a timely manner and adhere to program budgets.

Identify barriers to participation in golf for women and girls from all backgrounds, work with internal and external partners to deliver and expand the She Plays Golf program, addressing gaps in the participation pathway.

Work cross-departmentally with Marketing & Communications, First Tee – Canada chapters, High Performance, Amateur Championships and others to ensure efficient use of resources and seamless integration with other Golf Canada programming.

Build relationships with community groups and organizations supporting women and girls, developing strategies to facilitate involvement in She Plays Golf and other initiatives.

Consult with internal and external stakeholders to ensure women’s participation initiatives are current, are using best practices in engaging women and girls in golf, and are beneficial to clubs and communities across Canada.

Inclusive Sport Programming – All Abilities and Other (40%)

  1. Identify barriers to participation in golf for individuals with disabilities, consult with golfers with disabilities and Disability Sport Organizations to identify gaps in the participation pathway across Canada.
  2. Build relationships with community groups and organizations supporting individuals with disabilities to develop a participation strategy inclusive of introductory programming, access to golf courses, and competitive opportunities leading to the Canadian All Abilities Championship.
  3. Support the development of an Eligibility Assessor recruitment strategy and pathway to increase the number of trained assessors and strengthen the assessment process.
  4. Using research and proven structures from other national golf organizations and in collaboration with internal departments, develop recommendations for increasing competitive opportunities for golfers with disabilities across Canada.
  5. Monitor use of Golf Course Accessibility Toolkit and update as needed to keep resources and checklist current.
  6. Monitor use of Introducing Golf to Individuals Module and collaborate with the PGA of Canada to update as required.

Cross-Organizational Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives (10%)

  1. Support the execution of Golf Canada’s efforts to increase Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (“DEI”) in Canadian golf.
  2. Stay current to leading and innovative diversity, research, events, and topics.
  3. Support other departments in viewing activities through a DEI lens.
  4. Monitor progress and reporting on the Gender Equity Action Plan project pillars.
  5. Support with management of the D&I Resource Page and Club Member Resources related to DEI on the Golf Canada website.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  1. Post-secondary degree/diploma in sport management, business, related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. 5+ years of experience working in the sport field.
  3. 3+ years of experience leading and managing a team.
  4. Willingness to travel is required.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to manage multiple priorities under time restrictions.
  8. Flexibility and demonstrated ability to be a team player.
  9. Experience in event planning and operation is preferred.
  10. Customer service experience is preferred.
  11. High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  12. Bilingual (English and French) is not required but is considered an asset.
  13. Golf knowledge or experience is not required but is considered an asset.
