Position: Manager, Human Resources

Location: Timmins or North Bay, ON

GreenFirst is looking for a Human Resources Manager who is responsible for overseeing and managing the HR operations for GFFP. In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, you will:

  1. Demonstrate influential leadership.
  2. Align HR strategies with organizational goals.
  3. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislations and legal requirements.
  4. Provide expertise and support in various HR disciplines such as:
    1. Performance management
    2. Recruitment
    3. Payroll
    4. Pension
    5. Benefits
    6. Labour relations
    7. Organizational development
    8. Health & safety

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain strong communications to keep your team and sites informed regarding HR priorities.
  2. Have a strong working knowledge of relevant employment legislation such as:
    1. Employment Standards Act
    2. Human Rights Code
    3. Labour Relations Act
    4. Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
    5. Pay Equity Act
    6. Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
  3. Coach managers and supervisory teams in day-to-day challenges pertaining to labour relations as well as the application of HR policies, programs, and HR processes.
  4. Have strong knowledge as it relates to total compensation including benefits and pension.
  5. Provide support and leadership to the payroll department to ensure effective functioning, coordinating activities, and compliance with established financial, legal, and administrative requirements.
  6. Occasional travel between sites/corporate office.
  7. Direct the performance management, talent development, and succession planning processes to meet current and long-term needs for competence, and continuity across the workforce.
  8. Provide expertise in workforce planning, job evaluation, attendance management and accommodation.
  9. Provide consistent interpretation and counsel for the collective agreements’ application in alignment with business priorities and objectives.
  10. Be responsible for the overall development, application, and implementation of HR policies and procedures in compliance with applicable legislations.
  11. Keep up to date with HR trends and regulation changes – collect & analyze data to identify trends and target improvements.
  12. Act as Management Representation on various Joint Committees.
  13. Lead Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices for GFFP.
  14. Promote and support the Health & Safety programs to increase employee awareness.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources or industrial relations; or other relevant education.
  2. Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP)/ Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) preferred.
  3. Minimum 5 years of experience in a management position.
  4. Business acumen, sound judgement, strong analytical skills, and ability to multi-task.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communications skills required.
  6. Demonstrates a high level of integrity and discretion in all day-to-day practices.
  7. Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills.
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
