About the Team

Let us tell you about our Business Partner Model approach to client service. Our Managers, HR Business Partner Team are leaders in ensuring alignment between a client’s business operations and HR practices and strategic objectives.

In this management role, they have leadership qualities that are essential in coaching and developing a team of Human Resource Business Partners.

To support our Business Partners in helping to meet client needs, our model encourages partnerships with staff in our Communities of Expertise and Human Resource Service Centre who have deep expertise in specialized areas of HR which include: Employee and Labour Relations, Total Rewards, Employee Wellbeing and Inclusion, Talent, Organizational Development, HR Pay Management, Payroll and Benefits.

There is also the opportunity to collaborate with over 20 other Managers through a Community of Practice that promotes the sharing of ideas and joint problem solving.

The Opportunity

The Public Service Commission is seeking several experienced human resource professionals to join us as term and permanent Managers on our HR Business Partner Teams.

Joining one of our nine Business Partner Teams, you will work collaboratively and strategically with ministry clients by developing human resource solutions that support the achievement of Ministry’s goals.

As a Manager, HR Business Partner Team, you will:

  • Be a leader in human resource management;
  • Build partnerships with ministry senior leaders to proactively deliver human resource programs across a variety of service lines;
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Human Resource Business Partners;
  • Ensure alignment between ministry operations and HR practices and policy;
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and Manager peers to address client needs; and
  • Work closely with team members on projects and committees to advance PSC initiatives and strategies, such as culture, engagement, and leadership development.

Ideal Candidate

If you are an experienced HR professional with a generalist background who uses an influential and collaborative communication style in serving clients, we want to hear from you!

In addition, you will:

  • Demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills;
  • Build strategic partnerships with ministry senior leaders to proactively offer solutions to meet their current, emerging, and future human resource needs;
  • Be skilled in performance management to effectively engage, develop and support direct reports;
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities to coach and motivate team members and clients to achieve quality results;
  • Demonstrate an ability to proactively respond to challenging and dynamic situations;
  • Engage in innovative practices by looking beyond government for shifts, trends and approaches; and
  • Be self-directed in anticipating, responding and being proactive in adding value to clients.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through:

  • A Bachelor’s degree specializing in human resource management; and
  • Significant (typically 5+ years) experience as a human resource generalist; and/or
  • Experience working in a HR Business Partner Model.

An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered, and a CPHR or IPMA-CP/CS or equivalent designation would be considered an asset.

The Saskatchewan public service offers an attractive compensation package that includes competitive salary; comprehensive health and dental benefits; and pension plan.

The preferred location for these positions is Regina, however, candidates in other locations may be considered.
