Manager, Human Resources Business Partner
6-Month Contract (Hybrid) - Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Description
This role is a strategic HR Business partner for the Canadian Affiliate, supporting various brands with a focus on Field and Retail employees. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a broad range of HR disciplines including talent acquisition, succession planning, retention, employee relations, performance management, progressive discipline and career development while ensuring alignment between HR activities and the strategic priorities of the brand/function based on the overall corporate strategy.
Accountabilities:
- Provide leadership and consulting support in areas of change management, teambuilding, conflict resolution, performance management, progressive discipline, talent management, talent acquisition, compensation and employee development for the designated Canadian Affiliate population.
- Manage employee disciplinary actions and terminations as well as partner with legal counsel when needed to assess and mitigate potential risk and exposure.
- Proactively identify employee trends or issues and advise managers on appropriate actions and solutions.
- Create positive employee relations by executing on HR strategy and addressing complex performance management and employee issues.
- Investigate employee grievances as well as cases on discrimination, harassment and other employee relations allegations.
- Manage the talent acquisition process for office employees for Brands/functions including sourcing, screening, testing, interviewing, selecting candidates.
- Partner with people managers on the performance management process including education in goal setting, setting expectations and measuring and maintaining accountability.
- Deliver training needs as identified (such as Employment Legislation updates, Performance Management, Recruitment and various workshops as applicable).
- Work closely with the management team and the compensation team on job evaluation, pay actions and recommending, planning and implementing pay structure revisions.
- Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating and recommending human resources policies and procedures (for the Canadian Affiliate), ensuring standardization of policies/practices across all Brands and functions.
- Provide guidance and consulting support to Brand Leads and Department Managers on a suitable talent planning strategy for their respective teams.
- Inclusion & Diversity champion: Foster a culture that values diversity and demonstrates fair and consistent management practices.
- Participate in HR transformation projects such as new process implementations, new HR technology, organizational design projects etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-Secondary Degree required
- Minimum 7 years of relevant working experience.
- Human Resources generalist experience required and knowledge in employment law, organizational planning, employee relations, training and development, talent management, performance management and talent acquisition.
- CHRP designation is preferred
- Strong written/verbal communication skills and relationship management skills.
- Must be a strategic thinker with the ability to partner with senior management to drive business objectives while considering employees’ interests.
- Ability to relate to all levels and backgrounds of employees within a diverse population.
- Requires high level of sound judgment, diplomacy and flexibility.
- Strong problem solver and negotiator which is an asset to resolving complex employee relation cases.
- Demonstrates well-developed business acumen and understands how to implement/manage change.
- Strong communication, presentation, leadership and management skills.
- Detail oriented, pro-active, strong follow-up and investigation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast paced environment
- Comprehension of retail organization and environment.
- Tech Skills: MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint required; Taleo & Oracle an asset
Salary and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $89,900 to $129,600. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.
In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
