Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Manager, Human Resources (HR) is responsible for the planning, management, delivery, administration and evaluation of all HR programs and services at the Nunavut Arctic College (NAC). These include Inuit Employment, Recruitment and Staffing, Relocations, Employee Relations, Training and Development, Records Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Job Evaluation and Compensation and Benefits.
The incumbent will be a key HR advisor and specialist for the College as a whole and will provide quality advice and support to senior management on HR planning and management decisions, including matters involving employee relations/disciplinary action and performance management.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of a university degree in a related field, and three (3) years of progressive human resources management experience and two (2) years supervisory experience in a related setting. The following competencies and experience will be considered as assets: experience working in the public sector and in a unionized environment; education and/or training in alternate dispute resolution, Hay Method Job Evaluations, performance management, and human resources information systems (including Oracle Fusion Cloud); and possession of a CHRP Designation.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in English is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

As this is a term position, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval.
