About the Opportunity
The Forensic Assessment & Corrections Treatment (FACT) unit is a 24-bed unit that provides psychiatric assessments to individuals remanded by the courts of the NS justice system to determine if an individual is not criminally responsible and/or unfit to stand trial related to criminal charges they are facing. Depending on the outcome of the court proceedings, individuals can be found Not Criminally Responsible (NCR) or unfit to stand trial and may begin the process of rehabilitation in one of the hospital's other programs.

The Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility (CNSCF) Health Services is responsible for the provision of primary care services, mental health and addictions services, and dental services, within the CNSCF. The delivery of health services includes nursing assessments and interventions, diagnostic services, physician clinics, health promotion and prevention, emergency care, dental clinics, psychiatric and psychologist services, and special programs (e.g. Immunizations, Infectious Disease, Opiate Agonist Therapy).

The Health Services Manager (HSM) is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the interprofessional health services teams at both FACT and CNSCF. The HSM will be responsible for day-to-day clinical operations, standards of care, and maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.

Reporting to the designated Director, Central Zone MHAP, and working as part of a collaborative leadership team, the HSM will contribute to policy development, quality initiatives, service standardization, and resource management. The HSM will support the team in achieving the Accreditation Standards and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.

The HSM will build a positive relationship with the Department of Justice Correctional Services and work collaboratively to resolve operational issues to ensure safe and timely care for patients and Persons in Custody. The HSM will also be required to engage with a wide range of services and programs across Nova Scotia Health and community healthcare providers.
