Job Description:

The Manager works directly with the AVP and the broader team to support research on political and regulatory developments that may impact the business environment and Sun Life’s operations in Asia and other regions.

What will you do?

  • Support the Global Government Affairs & Public Policy team with research and analysis of the geopolitical, geoeconomic and international relations risks and opportunities for Sun Life’s global business operations that span multiple countries across North America, Asia and Europe.
  • Provide strategic advice to Sun Life’s leadership to support business objectives while navigating a changing geopolitical landscape.
  • Support the drafting of key messages, background briefs and presentations for senior Sun Life representatives when they engage with global forums or conferences.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree in political science, international affairs or equivalent (Masters degree in public policy/administration, international affairs or equivalent considered an asset).
  • Experience in a government affairs or international affairs advisory role with a Canadian firm or business association or within government.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to learn complex issues quickly and to simplify them for public consumption.
  • Good knowledge of international affairs.

Preferred:

  • Experience working on financial sector-related policy files considered an asset.
  • Knowledge/experience working on political risk or country risk considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Asia considered a strong asset.
  • Project management skills beneficial but designation not required.

Salary Range: 84,000 - 138,000
