POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Finance at Ronald McDonald House of Southwestern Ontario, is accountable to the Director, Finance and Corporate Services. The Manager, Finance is responsible for managing the organization's financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting, and financial analysis. This role involves preparing and analyzing financial data, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, providing strategic recommendations on financial performance, and supporting the organization's growth. To ensure fair and equitable pay at RMHC-SWO, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills and qualifications relevant to the Manager, Finance. Hiring salary range: $55,000 to $65,000. RMHC-SWO offers a 4-day workweek schedule for the employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting

  • Facilitate the annual budget process.
  • Assist in the monitoring of investments and ensuring investment firm compliance.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of corporate financial policies.
  • Ensure the Chapter aligns with RMH’s Global Financial Consistency requirements.
  • Responsible for budgeting, including working with team leads to ensure budget assumptions are challenged, supported and reasonable.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations, including bank accounts, revenue, and grants.
  • Responsible for the tax remittances and ensures all applicable filings are received promptly.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and management reports and statistics.
  • Monitor operating costs, ensure policies and practices reflect best practices and that internal controls are in place to protect the organization's assets.
  • Develop monthly updated cost and revenue projections.
  • Responsible for the annual audit and ensuring submission of annual information returns (T3010).
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.

Budget Management

  • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure adherence to budgets.
  • Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions.

Asset Investment Management

  • Responsible for the monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Work with the Investment Manager(s) and present quarterly and annual reports on investment performance to the Director, Finance and Corporate Services.

Risk Management

  • Monitor risk management policies and procedures as they pertain to finances to ensure that risks are minimized.
  • Ensure compliance with approved policies with respect to financial management, internal controls and external regulations, including charitable compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • University degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Management.
  • Finance designation preferred or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive responsibility and experience in finance and/or accounting is required, with experience in program budgeting and working with investment advisers.
  • Minimum three years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with a charitable organization is preferred.
  • Experience in budgeting, strategic planning, risk management, accounting and internal controls, and administration.
  • Experience working with a board of directors and finance committee is an asset.
  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance and reporting.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge, Financial Edge, and Payworks is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal skills and team management capabilities.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
