Position Title: Manager, Events

Division: Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation

Date: October 2024

Purpose of Position

The Manager, Events will support the development, implementation, administration, completion and evaluation of fundraising events in support of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

Scope

The Manager, Events reports to the President & CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Events Officer, and Development Assistant, Events.
  • Supervise the Events Assistant positions (summer students, interns, high school cooperative students) when applicable.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor Events policies and procedures.
  • Oversee administrative aspects of special events.
  • Develop and manage budget, work plan and operational plan for special events in collaboration with Department Team.
  • Develop and achieve financial goals for all aspects of the Events Department.
  • Solicit sponsorships (monetary and in-kind) for Signature events.
  • Develop, cultivate and steward relationships with event sponsors.
  • Collaborate with Development Team for event sponsorship, targeted individual participants, opportunities for stewardship and cultivation and other opportunities as defined/requested by the Development Team.
  • Act as the contact and resource for community-based, community fundraising events in support of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. This includes providing assistance and attending these events, on an as needed basis.
  • Recruit volunteers for Community and Signature events.
  • Participate in community organizations as directed by the President & CEO where appropriate.
  • Maintain records using prescribed software of any pertinent constituent (i.e. donor, volunteer, and sponsor) information that may be helpful to programs of the Foundation.
  • Maintain up-to-date events calendar including website updates.
  • Provide content for websites and online giving pages for special events.
  • Develop special events unique branding, marketing strategy and communication products for each event, in conjunction with the communications department.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The Manager, Events will be an above average communicator – both written and orally. This position also demands knowledge of and sensitivity to patients and their families, donors, recognition programs, and superior interpersonal skills.

The Manager, Events will have the ability to provide appropriate stewardship to various constituencies including but not limited to donors, sponsors, volunteers and community members.

The Manager, Events is able to handle multiple projects in the midst of competing timelines with extreme attention to detail.

The Manager, Events maintains a customer service focus in all interactions with Foundation constituencies including, but not limited to, donors, sponsors, volunteers, board members, volunteers and patients and Health Sciences Centre staff.

The Manager, Events must have experience in a supervisor role.

The ability to work comfortably in Microsoft Office and electronic mail are imperative. The ability to operate office equipment (i.e. copiers, computers, printers) is also required. The ability to use Raiser’s Edge is an asset.

A G-class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.

The Manager, Events must be flexible with hours and location of work. Evening and weekend work is required based on event schedules.

Qualifications

The Manager, Events will have completed post-secondary education, potentially in one of the following areas:

  • Fundraising
  • Special Event Planning/Execution
  • Business
  • Public Relations
  • Communications

And/or have a minimum five (5) years experience in fundraising or special event administration.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary Range: $64,000 - $78,000.

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
