Job Summary

The Enterprise Application Services (EAS) department in Information Technology Services (ITS) provides services to support and improve university administration. This includes maintaining existing and implementing new administrative systems, as well as upgrading and supporting a variety of information technology platforms. Reporting to the Director, EAS, the Manager, Enterprise Applications will oversee the management, maintenance, and support of business-critical applications under the purview of EAS. This role combines technical oversight with leadership responsibilities, ensuring systems are aligned with the strategic objectives of the university while providing critical business applications support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of enterprise applications including but not limited to Banner ERP, DalCard, DestinyOne, Slate, and Fusion. This includes installation, configuration, updates and decommissioning. Monitor and ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability of all applications.
  • Direct all production issues related to centralized administrative systems, ensuring timely resolution by setting priorities, assigning work, and ensuring the quality of completed tasks. Negotiate downtimes with clients for upgrades and maintenance, keeping all stakeholders informed of progress and issues.
  • Provide business relationship management, service portfolio management, and client/customer relationship development. Work closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure seamless delivery and enhancement of services.
  • Proactively identify and address weaknesses in both manual and automated procedures, seeking effective technical solutions. Collaborate with IT and campus leadership and external vendors to source and implement new technology solutions.
  • Oversee processes such as incident management, request fulfilment, and problem management. Design and develop innovative solutions to improve application efficiencies. Implement and maintain performance measurement systems to analyze trends and improve service delivery.
  • Lead a team of technical staff and analysts, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. Conduct hiring and staffing activities, and maintain staff training plans to ensure skills are up to date with evolving technology and university needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant field plus ten years' progressive experience in the IT field (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Significant experience in application management, systems analysis, application architecture planning, database management, project management, business process and workflow management, and IT leadership.
  • Expert knowledge of enterprise application principles, ERP software, software development and integration methodology, data processing practices, security and data privacy concepts.
  • Proven track record of managing IT support teams, with strong leadership and coaching abilities, and knowledge of human resource management and administration.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills including experience in business relationship development, managing client expectations and liaising with external vendors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning regarding both technology and professional practices.

Assets

  • Masters in Computer Science, Business Administration, Computer Engineering or other relevant field.
  • ITIL and/or PMP certification.
  • Experience with university business processes and the higher education sector.
