About your next Challenge as a Engineering Manager:

This position has significant visibility with Executive leadership and customer counterparts.

What will you do:

  • Lead several teams in a dynamic engineering environment across a diverse set of technical areas, including but not limited to Software Systems, Simulation, Subcontract technical management, Systems Requirements Management, Integration/testing, and many others.
  • Assume responsibility for projects assigned to your organizational unit. Through your participation in the review of all key program milestones, lead and influence the program’s technical development and help ensure the technical integrity from the system in accordance with the company's policies, priorities, and budget targets.
  • Critical tasks include staffing, staffing development, mentorship, deliverables progress and completion monitoring, bids and proposals oversight, strategic planning including annual operating plans, departmental goals setting.
  • Collaborate on optimal growth with business development, program management, and senior management teams. Communication within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts.
  • Act as an advisor to supervisors or staff to ensure that deadlines are met and that technical or operational constraints are resolved.
  • Coordinate work with other managers and staff. Responsible for the general technical control and support offered to other departments, and the sharing of resources throughout the company.
  • Manage experienced professionals including Group Leaders and Technical Specialists.
  • Influence the smooth running of programs and projects through continuous improvement and accountability for quality, analysis of measures in place, such as the review of estimation criteria and the monitoring of technical performance indicators.
  • Champion new concepts or technologies, manage the implementation of functional strategies and recommend operational plans that directly affect the short to mid-term function or business area results and will contribute in a tangible way to the results of the activities of your department.
  • Develop detailed plans for strategic growth, research and development, and R&D projects that produce new designs, products, and processes. Stay abreast of high-tech advancements and innovations, learn about trends in disruptive or emerging technologies for inclusion in our internal R&D projects.
  • Foster the company's growth by playing a key role in bidding (proposals), defining, evaluating, and setting up new projects.
  • Hire and supervise staff, ensuring the selection, development, training, and competence of staff so as to meet project departmental and divisional strategic objectives, while meeting functional requirements for engagement, retention, and overall service management.
  • Manage or prepare budgets allocated to your activities and department, particularly concerning operational needs, training, and the acquisition of equipment and materials.
  • Budget or Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability for the department.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Strong self-directed technical leader with excellent interpersonal and influence skills, excellent verbal and written communication, as well as presentation skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Computer or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant simulation experience.
  • At least 5 years of Management experience in technical program/project management, leading, managing, and supervising a team, and supporting multiple programs.
  • Experience interfacing with senior management, peers, and employees.
  • Experience working with customers and subcontractors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the aptitude to develop and execute a strategy.
  • Organizational skills for keeping track of various budgets, employees, and schedules simultaneously.
  • Experience in managing, directing, and administering the development of the full life cycle, including the preparation of performance evaluations, staff allocation, the supervision of software processes, and career development.
  • Broad understanding of engineering processes with a proven ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to the discipline areas.
  • Excellent team building skills; know how to integrate well within several specialties and organizations.
  • Capable of multitasking between 2 or more projects concurrently.
  • Bilingualism (French, English). The knowledge of the English language, other than the French language is necessary due to contractual requirements.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in the development and deployment of training simulators.
  • General knowledge of standards used in the delivery of nuclear power plant simulators.
  • Knowledge of Software Engineering development life cycle process and software modeling.

Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2 / NATO Secret security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
