MANAGER, DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

Duration: Permanent

Location: Ottawa or Toronto – Hybrid

Salary: $105,596 per annum

Travel: Travel is required as part of the position

Amnesty International Canadian Section (English Speaking) also known as AICS(ES) is looking for a dynamic Manager, Digital Infrastructure who will be responsible for leading and overseeing the organization's ITS operations, systems architecture, and technology strategy implementation. This role ensures the secure, efficient, and innovative use of technology to support the organization's objectives. The manager supervises a team of IT professionals, manages vendor relationships, and collaborates cross-functionally with departments to align technology solutions with business needs.

The Manager of Digital Infrastructure will join Amnesty International Canada during an exciting time as the organization moves forward with its strategic plan. The Manager will work closely with colleagues across the section to contribute to improving processes, practices, systems and tools within the ITS department to ensure they are equitable, transparent, and efficient. In addition, they will support the implementation and roll-out of any new platforms, tools and ways of working that are aligned with our strategic priorities and our ongoing commitment to ARAO-DEI.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategic Leadership, ITS Strategy, and Planning:

  • Advise on and implement comprehensive ITS strategies that support organizational goals, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry standards

  • Identify opportunities for leveraging technology to improve efficiency and drive innovation.

  • Serve as a key advisor to the Director of Finance & Operations and the senior leadership on ITS initiatives, trends, and innovations.

Governance and Policy Development:

  • Working closely with the Director of Finance & Operations to establish and enforce ITS governance frameworks, policies, and standards to guide technology use and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

  • Monitor and mitigate risks associated with IT operations and cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity and Compliance Leadership:

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to protect organizational assets and data.

  • Respond to and manage security incidents, ensuring timely resolution and preventive measures.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and organizational policies.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, inspire, and lead a high-performing IT team, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

  • Define team goals and performance metrics to achieve operational excellence.

  • Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, and professional development for IT staff.

Technology Infrastructure Management:

  • Direct the design, implementation, and maintenance of strong IT systems, networks, and infrastructure to support current and future organizational needs.

  • Ensure system reliability, scalability, disaster recovery preparedness, and integration across departments.

Project Portfolio Management:

  • Oversee the planning and execution of large-scale IT projects, ensuring they meet objectives, budgets, and deadlines.

  • Prioritize initiatives that align with organizational goals and deliver measurable impact.

Vendor and Partner Relationships:

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with technology vendors and service providers with an equitable lens, including researching solutions, engaging with potential vendors and solution providers that value ARAO-DEI, making product recommendations, and initiating purchase agreements and statements of work.

  • Negotiate contracts and oversee the procurement of IT products and services.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Oversee, develop and manage the ITS department budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising system performance while maintaining operational efficiency.

Data and Information Management:

  • Oversee enterprise-wide data management, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and security.

  • Leverage analytics and data insights to inform organizational decision-making.

Development and Training:

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptability within the ITS team and across the organization.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Stay informed and evaluate emerging technologies and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and competitive advantage.

  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to processes, systems, and tools.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with other departments to understand their needs and deliver tailored IT solutions.

  • Facilitate effective communication between IT and business units to ensure alignment and stakeholder satisfaction.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Background and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred with a focus on IT, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles, preferably in the non-profit sector, with proven expertise in implementing technology strategy and managing operations.

  • Demonstrated success in leading complex IT projects and cross-functional teams.

  • Experience managing large-scale IT projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.

  • Experience in managing digital solutions for Fundraising and Mobilization is considered a strong asset.

  • Track record of driving digital transformation and leveraging technology to achieve competitive advantages.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in developing and overseeing IT budgets.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and decision-making skills to align IT initiatives with organizational goals.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills to coordinate IT staff and projects with a proven ability to inspire, lead, and develop high-performing teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of IT systems, networks, infrastructure, and enterprise software.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, data governance, and emerging technologies.

  • Familiarity with industry best practices, standards, and compliance requirements, such as PIPEDA, ITSG-33, ISO.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with senior leadership, team members, and external partners.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant certifications, such as PMP or ITIL, are highly desirable.
