Sprout Social is looking for a Manager, Data Science to join its AI team.

What you’ll do

  • Lead a team of data scientists and software engineers responsible for the end-to-end development and deployment of new generative AI product features.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers from other teams to deliver new capabilities to our customers and define opportunities for applying data science to our products.
  • Act as a player-coach, simultaneously working to deliver new data products while overseeing and guiding the work of data scientists and engineers, helping direct and support their professional development.
  • Contribute to shaping our long-term roadmap.
  • Empower team growth by upholding our standards and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Stay current with the latest AI and ML research, identifying opportunities to integrate innovative solutions into Sprout's AI capabilities.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Data Science and AI leader to build exceptional AI products with us, to coach and mentor our growing AI team, and to help shape the future of AI at Sprout. The minimum qualifications for this role include:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the Data Science/AI/ML space.
  • 2+ years as a manager of data science and/or engineering team and working in cross-functional teams to deploy production-level data products.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and scaling high-performance teams through hiring and coaching of data scientists and engineers.
  • Deep proficiency of the end-to-end ML lifecycle and applying that to a broad range of ML problem spaces.
  • Proficient with model services, deployment technologies, ML-Ops practices, and cloud services (e.g., GCP, AWS, and Azure).

Preferred qualifications for this role include:

  • Experience with generative AI and working in a broad range of ML problem spaces, including classification, regression, time-series, recommendation systems, anomaly detection, and/or natural language processing.
  • Experience leveraging the Python data science stack for model development and deployment.
  • Experience partnering with product and design to articulate and execute an AI roadmap.
  • Familiar with software engineering best practices and managing software engineers.

How you’ll grow

Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:

  • Complete Sprout’s New Hire training program alongside other new Sprout team members.
  • Learn about our AI products.
  • Learn about our team’s data science and engineering best practices.
  • Become familiar with our existing services and available data.
  • Begin meeting with stakeholders to define existing problem spaces and needs.
  • Get to know the team and start forming your opinions on strengths and opportunities.

Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:

  • Identify top priorities for the team, both in terms of product and team operations.
  • Continue learning about Sprout’s products and customers to inform a potential roadmap of data-products.
  • Participate in Sprout’s Engineering Manager training program.

Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:

  • Contribute to our longer-term roadmap of data projects and ML models.
  • Define AI and engineering best practices.
  • Drive the team operational excellence and improve internal processes and ways of working.
  • Take ownership of team’s success and development growth.

Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:

  • Elevate the team performance, technical excellence and impact through improved processes, higher quality products, and growing talents in the team.
  • Continue to contribute to our AI roadmap.
  • Continue to partner with product and design.
  • Continue to build relationships with other department leaders.
  • Expand your skills by learning from other leaders at Sprout.
  • Surprise us! Use your unique ideas and abilities to change your team in beneficial ways that we haven’t even considered yet.
