Role Designation: Remote (Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec)

Job Description:

Our team is expanding, and we are actively seeking to hire a Manager, Casualty Claims Bodily Injury, Litigation. In this role, you will lead a team of approximately 10 Claims Advisors, providing guidance and ensuring the effective management of litigation claims. The position demands a strategic mindset, as it is responsible for driving results aligned with key performance indicators (KPIs), with a strong emphasis on early resolution, expense management, and indemnity control. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across departments, including underwriting, agents, legal, and other claims units, to achieve optimal outcomes.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of senior-level Bodily Injury Claims Advisors, promoting professional development and expertise.
  • Engage in targeted coaching to enhance technical skills and improve overall team performance.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, deliver constructive feedback and create individualized development plans to foster continuous improvement.
  • Promptly engage in performance management when performance opportunities are identified.
  • Lead the implementation of best practices in claims handling, working closely with senior-level Claims Consultants, Technical Manager, and Performance Manager to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Provide strategic oversight on high-value files and cases approaching trial, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Monitor claims management quality and timeliness, ensuring adherence to company guidelines, legal standards, and industry regulations.
  • Establish clear team goals and objectives that align with both departmental and organizational targets.
  • Oversee staffing levels and workload allocation to ensure optimal efficiency and balance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve claims processes and work with key stakeholders to develop action plans for remediation.
  • Ideate, create, and lead strategic initiatives that support department operational and financial goals.

Qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience and working knowledge in Bodily Injury claims handling, with a focus on litigated claims.
  • 2 years of experience in a people leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint. Guidewire experience is an asset.
  • Proven ability to develop strategies for efficiently resolving files.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing data and recommending solutions.
  • CIP designation is preferred.
