Job description

Your main responsibilities will be reviewing corporate, partnership and trust tax returns and identifying tax planning opportunities for the clients. You will work closely with partners, vice-presidents and senior managers on different files. You will also be involved in coaching and training other team members.

Your years of experience in preparing and reviewing complex tax returns have given you a breadth of knowledge in corporate income tax which allows you to develop solutions to suit the needs of the clients.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Reviewing large corporate income tax returns (including T1135s, T1134s and T106s) for Canadian-Controlled Private Corporations (“CCPCs”) and identifying tax planning opportunities;
  • Reviewing various tax computations;
  • Researching various tax matters, analyzing and summarizing tax research;
  • Assisting with corporate reorganization, estate and other tax planning;
  • Communicating and corresponding with tax authorities;
  • Training and supervising junior team members.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Canadian CPA;
  • 1 to 4 years’ experience in a tax manager role working with private businesses, their owners and families;
  • Strong income tax compliance experience in reviewing large corporate income tax returns for CCPCs, partnerships and trusts;
  • Experienced with personal and corporate tax planning specifically focused on CCPCs, family trusts, their owners and families;
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities including ingenuity, analytical skills and creativity;
  • Possess very good tax technical skills and a fine attention to detail;
  • Computer proficient; knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Caseware, TaxPrep, TaxnetPro or similar tax research software;
  • CICA In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Taxation in progress or completed;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to organize, prepare and clearly communicate information to our clients and team;
  • Able to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines;
  • Training of junior team members;
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
