About the role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager, Business Technology Strategy & Enablement to drive technology initiatives across the North American Surety division. This role is pivotal in enhancing business enablement, process automation, data optimization, and operational efficiency by ensuring technology solutions align with business needs. Acting as the primary liaison between the Surety business and corporate IT, the Technology Manager plays a key role in driving productivity, digital transformation, and innovation across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business operations, process improvement, and technology strategy, with the ability to translate business challenges into technology-enabled solutions in collaboration with IT teams.

What you'll do here:

Technology & Business Strategy

  • Identify and implement technology solutions that enhance efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with corporate IT to advocate for Surety’s technology needs, ensuring alignment with enterprise initiatives.
  • Lead technology-related business initiatives, including automation, digital tools, and system enhancements.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.

Process Automation & Operational Efficiency

  • Work with business teams to identify workflow inefficiencies and implement automation solutions.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with IT and external vendors to integrate business applications and optimize system usage.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to the Surety Technology team.
  • Ensure the team has the resources, support, and guidance needed to deliver impactful technology solutions.
  • Align team priorities with business objectives to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support professional development and growth opportunities for team members.

Collaboration with IT & Vendors

  • Act as a bridge between business operations and IT, translating business needs into technology requirements.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, ensuring solutions meet business needs.
  • Support IT in rolling out new technology solutions by ensuring smooth adoption and business alignment.


Travel Requirements:

  • Some travel; 5-10%.
  • US travel may be required.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A university degree in business, information systems, or a related field, with an MBA or equivalent advanced degree as an asset.
  • 7+ years of experience in technology strategy or business operations, preferably within the surety, insurance or financial services industries.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and execution abilities, with strong communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive approach to identifying business challenges and implementing technology-driven solutions in collaboration with IT and vendors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with business intelligence, automation, and process improvement tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and advanced cloud-based Office 365 tools for automation and workflow optimization.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is a preferred asset - For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
