G&C OVERVIEW

TD Wealth's Governance & Control (G&C) team partners with the Wealth businesses to design, implement, maintain and monitor effective internal controls and ensure business activities remain within TD Bank's risk appetite and comply with external regulatory requirements.

The team is responsible for ensuring timely and consistent implementation – across all Wealth businesses – of all risk, control and governance programs, initiatives, policies and strategic business projects. The Wealth Governance & Control team acts as the primary contact for the Wealth businesses, working closely with subject matter experts from each Wealth business line. The team works together with the business leaders to implement Wealth-wide Governance & Control methodologies, policy frameworks, standards and practices and are key members of enterprise projects/programs requiring Wealth representation.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE & THE WEALTH REGULATORY AFFAIRS TEAM

The role of Manager, Business Risk Oversight will be responsible for the oversight and reporting of business risks in the Wealth Lines of Business as they relate to the Enterprise Risk Framework, and assistance in the preparation and running of the Wealth Risk Forums, as well as thought leadership on Pan-Wealth initiatives with risk implications.

The Regulatory Affairs team is made up of three pillars:

  1. Business Risk Oversight & Privacy
  2. Regulatory Change
  3. Tax Advisory & Oversight
  4. Regulatory Exam Management

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Manager role reports to the Senior Manager, Business Risk Oversight and provides business risk oversight support as well as ad hoc business support for Wealth. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with partners across the organization including senior executives in the various Wealth lines of business, as well as Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, AML, Products, Credit, Tax, Operations, Technology/Delivery, among others. The role's mandate is to help promote a sustained culture of best practices through the appropriate analysis of business risk. We are looking for a self-motivated and innovative individual who excels in a fast paced, sometimes ambiguous, and high impact business team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Stakeholder Engagement

  1. Meet with the Wealth lines of business regularly to understand and review business risks – both existing and emerging using best practices.
  2. Promote strong risk management practices and principles across the business unit, while identifying opportunities for improvement and recommend appropriate solutions.
  3. Consolidates risk information, summarizes issues, analyzes trends and provides regular reporting to senior management and Line.

Risk Management Reporting

  1. Prepare and present risk forum materials to executives across Wealth on business risks.
  2. Develop program-based reporting to provide status update, issues, KPIs, and action plans for the respective business area and continuously enhance reporting, as needed.
  3. Consolidates risk information, summarizes issues, analyzes trends and provides regular reporting to senior management and lines of business partners using digitalization and visualization.

Risk Management Monitoring

  1. Proactively keep management informed of industry activities, risk issues, and potential risk to Wealth with clear and concise impact assessments on potential exposures and recommendations.
  2. Promote strong risk management practices and principles across the Wealth lines of business.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  1. 3-5 years' experience in Wealth in risk management, compliance, or consultant/advisory experience.
  2. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and proactive problem management skills.
  3. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to communicate clearly at all levels, including ability to prepare executive level decks, memos and reports.
  4. Excellent organization skills and ability to consume large volumes of information and summarize it in a meaningful way for stakeholders.
  5. Ability to take initiative, work independently and handle multiple tasks.
  6. Ability to build strong relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
  7. Ability to manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities.

Technical Knowledge/Skills

  1. Excellent Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills is a must, experience using business intelligence tools (i.e Tableau, Python, R) is considered an asset.
  2. Advanced skills with Microsoft product suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc).

Education

  1. Completion of a University degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  2. Professional designations in accounting, risk, law or compliance are an asset.
