Explore your next role:
As a key member of the Engineering team, the Manager, Avionics Systems will provide and supervise a team who provides Engineering services for systems/electrical modification development, systems/electrical repairs, and technical support to Voyageur Aviation Corp and its customers to solve complex problems. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, budgeting, project control, and risk assessment.
Your responsibilities:
- Lead a team of avionics engineers and technical staff with respect to systems engineering/avionics modifications projects.
- Design modifications related to aircraft systems (electrical, communication, and navigation) to meet mission requirements.
- Develop detailed designs, including identification of appropriate materials and joint methods as engineering drawings using CAD.
- Develop required written engineering reports to support the substantiation of assigned projects (i.e., system safety assessment, reliability assessment, risk assessment, EWIS analysis, Functional Hazard Assessment, Electrical Load Analysis) to qualify those projects against applicable regulatory (including guidance material), customer and company requirements.
- Review and determine airworthiness standards applicable for all repairs or modifications.
- Prepare Engineering documents to be used by maintenance personnel to complete the work on the aircraft.
- Coordinate and provide guidance for the integration of modifications onto the aircraft, including coordinating vendors, service providers, and Voyageur fabrication and installation staff.
- Generate and submit supplemental aircraft manual documentation as required for repairs and modifications to the fleet (Maintenance Manual Supplements, Flight Manual Supplements, Cargo Loading Manual Supplements, Illustrated Parts List Supplements).
- Coordinate and manage the preparation of data packages for Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) submission.
- Provide oral reports and/or presentations to coworkers, supervisors, senior management, and clients or regulatory authorities.
- Liaise with OEMs and Design Approval Representatives regarding modifications from initiation to completion.
- Develop and/or support the development of test plans and test reports.
- Coordinate test personnel (flight test pilot, flight test analyst, ground test technicians) and participate in ground test and flight test activities including generating risk assessments, pre-test briefings, test procedures, and post-test briefings.
- Review and approve project and personnel expenses.
- Liaise with Transport Canada certification specialists on matters specific to certification projects.
- Other assignments related to systems/avionics engineering projects.
Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred.
- Aerospace Engineering Degree with specialization in avionics or equivalent.
- Eng Certification is considered an asset.
- 5-7 years of experience in avionics engineering.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead modification projects.
- Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision.
Eligibility:
You must be legally eligible to work for a Canadian company (e.g., be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or possess a valid work permit) and provide a clear Criminal Background Check. You must be eligible for Government of Canada Level II security clearance status.
